Job Description

Scope

The Data Excellence Manager will spearhead AbbVie Italy's transformation in Winning With Data (WWD) capability, fostering a data and insights-driven organizational culture. This role, reporting to the Customer Excellence Director, aims to embed data and analytical proficiency into the core fabric of AbbVie, shaping strategic decision-making through impactful data utilization.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute data analysis strategies to enrich market understanding and steer marketing and sales initiatives.

  • Drive and oversee data analysis endeavors to pinpoint optimization opportunities and bolster operational efficiency, for example with diagnostic, descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics approaches.

  • Evolve best-in-class data management, particularly leveraging the Fusion program with Foundry platform, ensuring a structured data management approach in tandem with International Customer Excellence and BTS (Business Technology Solutions) teams.

  • Focus on business outcomes, not reporting. Inventory the business’ KPIs, not just for the purpose of reporting on the business with dashboards and reports. Modern data and analytics strategies use KPIs that describe how data and analytics will be used to improve the business, achieving those business outcomes through specific business actions.

  • Direct data acquisition, management, and analysis processes to uphold data integrity and quality standards.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to discern data requisites and craft analytical solutions to fulfill those needs.

  • Provide strategic input to Customer Excellence Director, Commercial Directors, and all the members of the Affiliate Management Team leveraging data insights for informed decision-making.

  • Supervise the Data Analyst - Data Steward, offering mentorship and training to enhance the team's analytical expertise.

  • Pioneer market research capabilities, coordinating both direct and indirect Market Research budget allocation as a subject matter expert.

  • Engage with internal tech partners and external vendors on cybersecurity to ensure data protection and compliance.

  • Communication and storytelling: Creating consistent value-oriented storylines for better understanding and execution of the D&A Strategy. Ability to effectively drive business, culture, and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment (e.g., conveying information to diverse audiences in a way that is easily understood and actionable). Comfort with public speaking and the ability to creatively and concisely express ideas to business and technical audiences.

  • Understand business, and domain language to engage in problem-solving sessions and discuss business issues in stakeholder language.

  • Establish the groundwork for Advanced Analytics, AI/GenAI and Machine Learning model development, addressing pertinent business queries and identifying novel data models for value creation.

  • Lead by example, motivating, coaching, and inspiring direct reports and peers to drive superior performance and implement transformative data programs.

  • Cultivate robust relationships with CEx partners for collaborative Use Case development and co-creation. Connect with stakeholders to identify stakeholders’ unmet needs that expose new opportunities, and to redesign business processes and interactions as part of the digital transformation.

  • Institute robust governance processes and documentation for WWD Capability, guiding change management/communication and learning plans.

  • Ensure full compliance with internal and external guidelines for all WWD activities.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or related field.

  • Additional qualifications such as a PhD, MBA, or strategic consulting experience are considered an advantage.

  • Minimum 7 years of data analysis experience, preferably in pharmaceutical or healthcare sectors.

  • Proven track record in managing complex analytical projects and leading teams.

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and Business Intelligence platforms.

  • Robust business thinking, connecting the dots and leading adding-value solutions for business.

  • Commercial exposure/collaboration with marketing and sales, preferably across diverse business contexts and geographies.

  • Results-oriented mindset with the ability to translate data insights into strategic actions.

  • Demonstrated success in driving data-driven teams or programs and effecting change in ambiguous environments.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving aptitude for tackling complex analytical challenges.

  • Ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options.

  • Ability to “translate” among the different languages used by executives, business stakeholders, and IT.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership.

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage priorities in dynamic environments.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills for effective stakeholder interaction.

  • Proficiency in change and project management with a resourceful and creative approach.

  • Thorough understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance assurance.

  • Exceptional skills in Office and Data Analysis tools utilization.

Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.
