Job Details The Infection Control Practitioner coordinates infection surveillance and control activities to prevent infections in the health care setting. The Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for identifying, investigating, Monitoring, and reporting healthcare- associated infections. The IP collaborates with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention strategies. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Reviews microbiology reports; Reports and responds to findings as per guidelines Reviews admission reports for readmissions related to infections, and assessment for communicable diseases, proper screening tests obtained and reported as needed Obtains and enters data into NHSN (i.e.; CLABSI, CDI, Colon and Hip SSI Obtains surveillance data for multi-drug resistant organisms and enters data into the MIDAS computer system Obtains surveillance data and analyzes data for VAP’s, CLAB’s for ICU and NICU Reports data to the Infection Prevention Committee Assists with education to staff during Orientation of new hires Comply with regulatory and mandatory reporting requirements at the local, state, and federal level. Investigates any increased incidence or clusters of infections that occur in the hospital or in the community Consult and collaborate, as needed, with local, state, and federal public health officials and community health organizations. Assists in developing the Infection Control annual report and plan, and review and updates to policies and procedures. Understands epidemiological principles and methods and advocates to ensure a safe environment for staff, visitors and patients Reports all findings to the Infection Prevention Director Attends multi-disciplinary committee meetings, works collaboratively with others, providing direction, and sharing knowledge and expertise when necessary. Salary Range USD $51.16 - USD $62.00 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
