Fedcap Respite Worker in Rochester, New York
We are immediately hiring in Rochester, NY! Join us at Easterseals NY for an exciting career as a Per-Diem Respite Worker at $15.00/hr.
Position Summary:
The Respite Provider will provide short-term relief to caregivers who are responsible for the primary care and support of individuals with developmental disabilities. Participants (of all ages) receiving respite services through Easterseals NY- Rochester Recreation Respite waiver program. In-home respite - is an indirect service, providers are responsible for the primary care, supervision and support of individuals with in their own home. Recreation respite- providers are responsible for primary care, supervision and support of individuals during social and recreational activities within the community.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide protective oversight for assigned individual.
Provide assistance with personal care if applicable and as needed, as well as provide reminders and simple assistance for activities such as eating.
Follow service plan designed by the care coordination team.
Encourage individual toward self-reliance.
Understand and respect the confidentiality of the individual and family.
Accept responsibility for compliance with all policies, procedures and service requirements of Easterseals and the Respite programs
Complete and maintain all required documentation required for position.
Work in accordance with state HCBS Waiver Key, OPWDD and Agency policies & procedures and regulations required for provision of services, documentation, and training needs.
Demonstrate ability to receive supervision from multiple supervisors when appropriate, cooperating with the individual, primary caregiver, family and program supervisor.
Follow protocols and procedures for emergency situations.
Computer Skills & Literacy - Basic Computer Literacy as evidenced by the ability to use basic Internet, check his/her email account, create and send e-mail with an attachment and use simple email features. Can open spreadsheets and word processing documents to read and make simple edits.
Ability to communicate effectively maintain cooperative and regular communication / correspondences with supervisor, program administrative team, other employees of the agency and clientele as necessary even if not actively scheduled to work.
Recreation only - Transports youth, families and staff in a safe manner as requested for program.

Experience and Education:
High School, GED and/or equivalent Diploma.
Experience working with children and adults, particularly those diagnosed with Autism or other developmental disabilities.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Able to meet the physical, emotional and intellectual needs of children and adults diagnosed with a developmental disability.
Able to work independently, flexible, varied hours in multiple locations -- days, evenings, and weekends -- as necessary in order to meet the needs of individuals served.
Ability to work in a minimally supervised setting.
Computer Skills & Literacy as required for essential job duties for position.
Ability to drive agency vehicle to transport individuals as needed.
Bi-Bilingual fluency a plus; actively looking for fluency in both English and Spanish with ability to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently.
