WHAT TO EXPECT As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Located in our Rochester Hills office, as our Commodity Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, directing, and monitoring of all procurement activities so that the goods, materials, supplies, and services the organization buys meet its standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply. You'll be working to establish and implement strategies for negotiating commodity supply agreements based on in-depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets for optimum pricing and terms. This is an exciting opportunity for you because you will be managing and leading efforts on cost savings initiatives in line with a profit plan and overall business objectives. Your fit in the organization will be reporting to the Senior Director, Global Sourcing. Key responsibilities (to name a few): Leading negotiation for the assigned portfolio of spending categories. Utilizing cost models to validate commodity strategies and to understand significant cost drivers. Acquiring and maintaining understanding of technology trends, market forces, cost trends, and supplier technology road maps. Managing supply base by establishing and maintaining measurable performance metrics for all of procurement to ensure total cost, as well as mitigate price increases and find alternate supply base. Acting as project manager (develop, manage and implement) for cross functional teams to build stakeholder alignment (Technical, R&D, Sales & Marketing, Regional and local teams, etc.) to meet objectives. Contract management - reviewing to ensure specific requirements are present, appropriate review and signing authority is present.
ABOUT YOU BA or BS degree in a relevant concentration; MBA preferred 5+ years of progressive global change agent experience in commodity management/supply chain management CPSM (ISM) or CSCP (APICS) certification preferred Strong Proficiency with all Microsoft and MRP/Supply Chain systems Excellent analytical and project management capabilities Excellent verbal and written communication across regions, functions, and levels Excellent negotiating capability Collaboration and influence management skills with proven ability to work effectively in a matrix organization Exceptional time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred This position may require travel time of up to 30% Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
