Network Design Engineer, (Patient Monitoring) Virginia, D.C., Carolinas

Ideal candidate will reside within in VA, DC, or Carolinas - Role supports East Zone (Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern U.S.).

You will join the Philips Connected Care – Hospital Patient Monitoring (HPM) business as a Network Engineer supporting the East Zone. As part of the Services and Solutions Delivery organization, you will contribute to providing the right data, context, and approach which will change the way we do business and make a difference for our customers.

The Philips Connected Care – Hospital Patient Monitoring (HPM) business. This division of Philips specializes in the installation and service of patient monitoring devices, networks, and telemetry systems to avoid and reduce complications and improve the care delivery process across the entire hospital. As hospital environments become more integrated, the service organization is looking to expand its ability to install and service complex networks, as well as consult with customers on high-end integrations.

Your role:

  • Designing and leading the implementation and testing of complex IT networks and integration solutions, follow industry and proprietary real-time patient data transfer requirements.

  • Providing consultation to healthcare institutions on IT network strategies and system integrations.

  • Troubleshooting complex network issues to ensure acceptable Quality of Service (QOS).

  • Leading installations of complex, multi-phase network systems composed of IT infrastructure and patient monitoring equipment in both clinical and non-clinical environments, across an expansive geography.

  • Providing technical reviews of system configurations to ensure viability of system performance.

  • Leading and directing a diverse team of internal and external installation resources.

  • Sharing responsibility of successful project completion with the assigned Project Manager and project team.

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor’s in computer science, electronics, biomedical or other related disciplines and/or equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of professional working experience in the healthcare/IT technologies or electronics industry, preferably in a field service and/or hospital environment.

  • Currently valid Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) is required (or required to obtain within 12 months from beginning of employment); will consider other equivalent certifications.

  • Extensive knowledge of information system technologies as reflected in formal Microsoft or Cisco certifications.

  • Extensive knowledge of patient monitoring systems, telemetry units, ventilators, and defibrillators (as reflected in completion of formal vendor training) highly preferred.

  • Knowledge and previous experience working in a healthcare environment highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of HL7 and electronic medical record (EMR) systems highly preferred.

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues through resolution.

  • Ability to influence internal and external resources to a stated objective without formal lines of authority.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external CXO level management.

  • Ability to effectively negotiate.

  • Ability to deliver required results with high levels of customer satisfaction, both internally and externally).

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that is compliant with Philips’ Fleet Policy.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Required to travel up to 65% within the geography. This role primarily supports throughout the East Zone (Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern U.S.) but will serve as backup support through the entire district. Occasional overnight stays and travel by air or train may be required.

  • Job operates in the hospital/medical environment and remotely from a home office location.

  • Responsible for carrying and monitoring company cell phone and being available and responsive during scheduled and non-scheduled hours, except during rest and meal periods as required by applicable state law.

  • Must be flexible in working hours as this position will require customer support during non-regular business hours, mandatory overtime on short notice, and/or weekend work as necessary.

  • May be required to adhere to certification/credentialing required by the customer in connection with admission into its facilities to perform job duties. Customer requirements may include, but are not limited to, drug testing and immunizations as dictated by the customer or facility policy.
