Position Summary You will be working as member of the Equipment Analysis Group designing and analyzing complex mechanical equipment. You will be preparing design documentation, performing calculations using engineering software, and preparing specifications for complex mechanical equipment used in the waste treatment process and support systems. The ideal candidate will have the following: Experience with computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software to support structural and thermal analyses. WTP prefers STAR-CCM+ or ANSYS Fluent. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software for structural and thermal analyses. WTP prefers ANSYS. Experience using industry standards such as ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, AISC ASD, and AISC N690. Experience producing equipment design calculations. Experience producing design documents, including specifications and datasheets that incorporate the applicable design requirements, including nuclear safety requirements. Responsibilities The primary role of the Senior Equipment Stress Engineer is to collect the process, mechanical, controls, safety, and other requirements for the process equipment in order to develop highly detailed documents and calculations for the equipment to meet the applicable requirements. The primary products of the Equipment Analysis Group are design calculations validating the suitability of equipment for use on project. The Senior Equipment Stress Engineer will: Perform equipment analyses using CFD or FEA software to produce equipment design calculations, as well as perform reviews of analyses and other submittals prepared by equipment vendors. Resolve technical issues related to the equipment design and discuss them with other disciplines, groups, suppliers and the customer. Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines in the development of the design. Support the production of the equipment drawings. This may be performed as an individual contributor or leading other engineers. Prepare reports and studies in resolving open technical issues related to the equipment design. Support development of cost estimates and schedules for mechanical equipment. Ensure work is performed to the project's quality standards for nuclear facilities while executing to the schedule.
