Project Overview

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

Position Overview

• As a Mechanical Drafter, you will support Mechanical SystemsEngineers with P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) development.

• The position will require full time presence in the Reston, Virginia project office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 2-D CAD Intelligent Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) using SmartPlant P&ID based on sketches and redline drawings from mechanical engineers.

• Responsible for data integrity of associated P&ID lists.

• Execute schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

• Level 1: AA/AS degree with 1 year of related design experience or 6 years of related design experience in lieu of degree.

• Level 2: AA/AS degree with 3 years of related design experience or 7 years of related design experience in lieu of degree.

• Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

• Must be authorized to live and work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience in reading/interpreting/drafting P&IDs and incorporating complex redline changes into the drawings.

• Experience in working with equipment, line, valve, and in-line component lists and associated data.

• Proficient in using Microsoft Office software.

• Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.

• Prior experience with industry-wide design/drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation, PDS2D, PDS3D, Smartplant P&ID Component Databases.

• Experience working in a project team environment to resolve issues and improve processes.

• Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with intelligent P&IDs.

• Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
