Microsoft Corporation Finance Manager in Reno, Nevada

This Finance Manager role supports both the Advertising Controllership and the Supply Chain Controllership teams.

You’ll spend half your time supporting the accounting for channel incentives for the growing online Microsoft Advertising business, that provides solutions for the world’s top marketers, agencies, content partners and brands. You’ll spend the other half supporting special projects within the combined consumer/commercial controllership space across Advertising and Supply Chain.

Responsibilities

Accounting Execution

  • Prepares and reviews accrual channel incentive entries in compliance with accounting policies and guidelines. Investigates and resolves business partner inquiries, accounting deviations, and other data anomalies. Implements accounting execution process improvements.

Accounting Systems

  • Creates, reviews, and updates standard accounting systems such as general ledger, accounts receivables, accounts payable, fixed assets, treasury, supply chain, or revenue. Assists in the setup of processes and procedures that properly capture, track, and report accounting transactions. Verifies effective operations with business partners that help with end-to-end processing, payments, accounting, and related finance controls.

Enablement/Process Improvement

  • Implements process improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.

Control and Compliance

  • Reviews controls and related documentation, and applies to newly created reports to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) regulations. Helps with the risk assessment process and reviews documentation. Participates in documentation of process flows and financial controls. Assists the control owners in maintaining SOX controls and provides GAAP guidance as needed. Ensures reporting tools are updated timely and accurately.

Special Projects

  • Provides Finance support for various projects to build or enhance Finance process within the Comemrcial and Consumer spaces.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 1+ year(s) accounting or finance experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 5+ years accounting or finance experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 3+ years accounting or finance experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Professional accounting certification such as CPA or equivalent.

Accounting IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $72,800 - $144,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $95,100 - $157,900 per year.
