PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $33.17-$40.53 hourly. The full Pay Range is $25.77-$47.93 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As a Fraud Investigator at BECU, you’ll be at the forefront of safeguarding our members and their financial assets. Your expertise will empower you to investigate fraudulent activities, including debit and credit card fraud, Zelle transactions, check fraud, external transfers, and new account fraud. Using your skills and knowledge, you'll conduct investigations that go beyond just following steps—each case you resolve contributes to building trust and security for BECU members. You'll have a direct hand in protecting the financial well-being of thousands, ensuring that your work leaves a lasting impact.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Investigate Fraudulent Activity: You will manage fraud investigations, using internal systems and interviewing members to resolve fraud claims.

  • Manage Multiple Cases: You’ll handle several cases at once, ensuring each is completed within the required regulatory timeframes, while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.

  • Detect Fraud Patterns: You’ll review both monetary and non-monetary transactions to identify emerging fraud trends and support the investigative process.

  • Analyze Evidence: You’ll conduct thorough analysis, assessing documents and interviews to develop well-founded investigative conclusions.

  • Apply Regulatory Knowledge: You’ll use your understanding of the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and other regulations to structure your investigations and ensure compliance.

  • Identify and Escalate Issues: You’ll proactively identify fraudulent trends and vulnerabilities, escalating issues that present larger risks or abnormal losses.

  • Provide Partner Support: You’ll offer timely email and phone support to internal and external partners regarding fraud inquiries, fostering strong relationships.

  • Stay Compliant: You’ll perform all duties in alignment with BECU’s competencies and regulatory requirements, ensuring data protection and compliance with industry standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent work or educational experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in fraud prevention, detection, or investigations, including customer service experience

  • Verbal and written communication skills

  • Organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

  • Intermediate knowledge of Regulation E, Regulation Z, and/or Regulation CC

  • Full-time availability, with additional hours as necessary

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification

  • Conceptual skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively

  • Experience in decision-making with a high level of discretion
