Microsoft Corporation Supply Chain Inventory Manager in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the world’s computer with an industry-leading supply chain. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

We are looking for a Supply Chain Inventory Manager professional to join the Integrated Supply Planning (ISP) team. The role will be responsible for analyzing inventory end to end, contribute to develop and deploy inventory/Excess & Obsolete (E&O) strategies, policies, processes and governance mechanisms to minimize write-offs and E&O. This role will enable visibility of inventory excess at different nodes to influence demand and supply shaping options by driving consensus through process.  This role requires engagement with Planning, Sourcing, Operations, Integrated Business Planning and Finance teams to deploy inventory, policies, and processes as aligned by leadership.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be part of Cloud Capacity Planning team with the mission to lead the world’s cloud experience through optimal, predictable, and connected planning. Extract, consolidate and analyze supply chain data to improve and identify new metrics and drive continuous improvement exercises on Inventory related excess, Aging and Excess & Obsolete (E&O) risks reduction Run the current business while ensuring new process design is under way to support simplification and consolidation to articulate the appropriate model and design that fits industry best practices Perform scenario analysis to understand inventory impact of component shortages, demand upside/downside, etc. to Supply Plan of Record. Collaborate to establish inventory targets part of supply planning (in conjunction with rack/finished Goods (FGs) level) for raw components based on historical usage, forecast volatility, and define associated financial risk/liability.

Work with Planning and other supply chain teams to manage product transitions to minimize risk of E&O and aging build, track, and maintain inventory metrics using Power BI in a format that can be actioned by cross-functional teams. Identify process improvement opportunities and work with cross functional teams to improve tools and processes to better manage Inventory and E&O process from end to end.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 3+ years supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 1+ year(s) supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Previous experience with Inventory and Excess & Obsolete Management

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years in inventory Excess & Obsolete management, supply planning, operations, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience

  • Proven analytical skills to collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of demand and supply data in Excel/Access etc. with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to present and manage data, including building charts and graphs in Power BI to review with working levels and executive management

  • communication and facilitation skills with cross-functional team to troubleshoot, document problems and corrective actions

  • Master’s degree in industrial engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field Cloud/Hyperscale Supply Chain Experience Experience in the High-Tech industry Possess business acumen, able to think and plan strategically

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Able to summarize complex concepts to engage with broader audiences

  • Proficient critical thinking and ability to drive resolution in ambiguous situations

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage change in the organization and to influence others

  • Comfortable working in a fast-pace, high-growth environment

Supply Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.
