​​Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.​

​​As a Senior Product Manager on the Azure Database for PostgreSQL team, you will be responsible for driving the strategy, roadmap, and execution of the Migration Service in Azure Database for PostgreSQL, a cloud-based solution that helps customers migrate their existing databases to Azure with minimal downtime and risk. You will work closely with customers, partners, engineering, marketing, and sales teams to understand the needs and pain points of customers, and deliver innovative solutions that enable them to migrate to Azure with confidence and ease. You will also collaborate with other product managers across Azure to ensure a seamless and consistent experience for customers who use Azure databases and other Azure services.

Responsibilities

  • ​​Define and communicate the vision, value proposition, and roadmap for the migration service in Azure Database for PostgreSQL, and align it with the overall Azure Databases strategy and goals.

  • Conduct customer research, market analysis, and intelligence to identify and prioritize the key scenarios, features, and requirements for migrating existing databases such as Postgres, MySQL, Oracle and DB2 databases to Azure.

  • Work with engineering teams to translate customer needs and feedback into clear and actionable user stories, specifications, and acceptance criteria.

  • Manage the product backlog, prioritize features, and resolve dependencies and trade-offs across multiple stakeholders and teams.

  • Drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch, and measure and monitor the adoption, usage, and impact of the product.

  • Partner with marketing, sales, and customer success teams to create and execute go-to-market plans, generate customer demand, and drive customer retention and satisfaction.

  • Evangelize the product internally and externally, and solicit feedback from customers, partners, analysts, and influencers.​

Qualifications

Required /Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline.

  • Delivering Service Through a Customer-First approach.

  • 5+ years working experience with relational database systems such as Postgres, Oracle, MySQL and DB2.

  • Experience with database migration processes.

  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
