The People Science R&D team’s mission is to enrich Microsoft Viva with the science of employee happiness and success, by supporting the development of category winning products and enabling AI transformation at scale, leading to exceptional and impactful experiences for humans at work.

We are looking for a Senior People Scientist, in this opportunity will allow you to develop deep expertise in Employee Experience (EX) and HR technology, refine your research skills, and collaborate across teams to create and deliver impactful, data-driven, research-based insights for product development and industry thought leadership.

Responsibilities

  • You will shape the Viva People Science point of view and research roadmap, architecting content creation and curation systems that allow key stakeholders to execute research informed perspectives at scale.

  • You will acquire the data and requirements necessary for projects and research. You’ll also update internal best practices for multiple research methods and contribute to conversations with stakeholders about scaling research and best practices.

  • You simplify the complexity of the social sciences to deliver pragmatic recommendations and assets. You act as a connector, bringing ideas and best practices together into a cohesive narrative.

  • You will partner with researchers, product, and marketing to stay current on best practices, identify future trends, and to shape Viva People Science’s brand as an industry thought leader.

  • You will master one or more subareas and gain expertise in a broad area of research, including applicable research techniques. You’ll also gain deep knowledge of a service, platform, or domain, and identify product needs by sharing the latest industry trends and applied technologies and help shape Viva People Science’s brand internally and externally as an industry thought leader.

  • You will review business requirements and incorporate research to meet business goals. You will provide strategic direction for the kinds of data used to solve problems and apply deep subject matter knowledge to support business impact and product development.

  • You will research and maintain a deep knowledge of the industry, including trends and technologies, so that you can identify strategy opportunities and contribute to thought leadership best practices.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)

  • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate or Masters degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior or related field

  • Track record of successful cross-disciplinary collaborations.

  • Experience building scalable research strategies and systems.

Data Science IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
