We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Development Engineer to join our team at Xbox Emerging Technology to lead the team that is building the next generation of game development tools powered by AI. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for driving innovation and excellence in software development, focusing on machine learning (ML) systems and developing scalable products that leverage the latest AI. You will play a pivotal role in delivering products in the gaming industry that empower developers to create the best games in the world. Responsibilities

  • Hands-on leadership of a team of product-focused software developers.

  • Implementing AI models into scalable platforms that accelerate game development.

  • Working across research, data science, and product management teams to ensure successful customer-centric solutions.

  • Design and implement Azurebased solutions to scale ML/AI solutions across Xbox.

  • Craft clean, efficient, and maintainable code across a range of technologies, including but not limited to Python, PowerShell,C#, and C++.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years experience leading cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 4+ years of cloud-native software development experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to lead through example and influence.

  • 10+ years of experience leading teams of software engineers.

  • Effective problem-solving acumen and critical thinking skills.

  • Experience in building new products or features from the ground up.

  • Over 10 years of experience leading teams and building production level systems.

  • Experience implementing RPA based solutions in Windows.

  • Experience in videogame development, particularly in automation.

  • Experience deploying, scaling, and managing containerized applications in Azure

  • Previous exposure to Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

  • Automation experience with Azure, particularly with Windows on Azure.

  • Over 10 years of experience leading teams and building production level systems.

  • Experience implementing RPA based solutions in Windows.

  • Experience in videogame development, particularly in automation.

  • Experience deploying, scaling, and managing containerized applications in Azure

  • Previous exposure to Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
