Amazon Embedded Software Dev Engineer, Project Kuiper in Redmond, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

We're looking for an outstanding engineer to help us build this service from the ground up.

Key job responsibilities

• Develop high performance software in a resource constrained environment for embedded processors

• Develop prototypes to prove out key design concepts and quantify technical constraints

• Full software development lifecycle, including design, testing, and mission integration

• Develop solutions to bridge the gap between OS software, flight software, antenna software, and modem software

Export Control Requirement

A day in the life

Have you wanted an opportunity to develop software for an advanced satellite broadband telecom service? The ground infrastructure software development engineer will take a strategic role in the architecture and the software product development life cycle for customer terminals and ground systems. You will create software that is used to design, develop, launch, and operate ground systems and be responsible for the complete lifecycle of the software from development to testing to operations.

About the team

The Kuiper Customer Terminal Applications Team supports the devices that connect our customers to the Kuiper network. We provide software for both applications and the underlying Linux systems. We work hand in hand with hardware, product and operations teams to deliver a great experience for our customers.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Redmond, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
