Microsoft Corporation Director, Transfer Pricing in Redmond, Washington

We are looking for a Director, Transfer Pricing to join Microsoft’s global transfer pricing team. Microsoft’s global transfer pricing team is responsible for ensuring Microsoft is compliant with the ever-changing regulations that govern transfer pricing.

This individual will be a hands-on leader that works collaboratively across all tax functions to develop and execute transfer pricing policies and practices. This individual will be an effective communicator who can distill complex transfer pricing concepts in a simplified fashion to tax and business leadership.

Microsoft Tax & Customs Department is responsible for Worldwide Tax & Customs Reporting, Compliance, and Planning, including the technology and process & innovation functions to support the coordination of the worldwide tax and Customs functions.

There are four major functions within the Tax and Customs Department.

1) Tax Reporting and Transfer Pricing

2) Customs, Tax Process & Innovation

3) Corporate Tax Planning & Controversies, Indirect Tax & Global Business Initiatives

4) Tax & Customs Controllership, Policy and Benefits Taxation.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development and implementation of Microsoft's global transfer pricing policies in alignment with Microsoft’s business.

  • Advise and collaborate with business and finance teams on the transfer pricing implications of new business models, transactions, and restructurings.

  • Lead advanced pricing agreement and competent authority proceedings.

  • Dive deep into financial systems to design, prepare, and implement detailed transfer pricing policies and calculations.

  • Defend and support transfer pricing positions in audits.

  • Communicate and present transfer pricing issues and solutions to tax and business leadership.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or related field AND 12+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience

  • OR Advanced Degree (e.g., Master's in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Taxation or related field; J.D.; LL.M. in Taxation) AND 11+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or related field AND 15+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience

  • OR Advanced Degree (e.g., Master's in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Taxation or related field; J.D.; LL.M. in Taxation) AND 14+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), or similar certification.

  • 12+ years of transfer pricing experience with a mix of both big four and in-house experience.

  • Deep knowledge of U.S. and international transfer pricing laws and regulations.

  • Solid familiarity with U.S. international tax law and regulations.

  • Experience with transfer pricing issues faced by large multinational technology companies such as acquisitions, Intellectual Property integration and cost sharing.

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and maintain a growth mindset in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to partner and work collaboratively across teams.

  • Proficiency with complex business systems such as SAP, Hyperion, Mercury, Excel, and Alteryx preferred

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

Tax IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $266,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $292,200 per year.
