Wyoming Department of Corrections Technical Operations Technician II - Rawlins in Rawlins, Wyoming
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and operation of all security electronics at a maximum-security prison to ensure the safety and security of the institution, staff, inmates, and the general public. Institutional systems include surveillance equipment, telephones, intercom, CCTV, security fencing, and central fire/smoke detection system.

- Repairs, build, and maintains complex electronic equipment.
- Maintains and diagnoses hardware and software.
- Replaces damaged parts; inspects and diagnoses specific problems.
- Performs preventive maintenance, emergency repair and troubleshooting, modifications, utility locates, operation, software maintenance, and oversees initial operations.
- May provide advanced training to less experienced specialists.
- May assist or oversee contractors' installation.
- Inspect, diagnose, and document and repair roadside lighting.
- Responsible for maintaining proper tool control, accountability, and logs.
- Assist other trades and departments with work assignments and assists with snow removal duties for the facility.
- Be able to work on-call on a rotating basis to include occasional night and weekend hours.
- Ensures adherence to all WDOC policies and procedures.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to those candidates with a current Low Voltage General License.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Basic hand tool use and knowledge.
- Ability to read and use a digital multi-meter.
- Ability to perform the job in a safe manner.
- Proper training in basic first-aid and CPR.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Experience: 0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Technical Operations) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Technical Operations Technician I
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Some agencies may require a valid Class C driver's license.

Education and ExperienceSubstitution: 3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Technical Operations) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Technical Operations Technician I

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- May work in extreme weather and may involve heavy lifting
- Works at heights of 40 feet and below out of a bucket or lift truck
- Climbing on an occasional to regular basis
- Lifting/grasping up to 50 pounds without assistance on a regular basis
- Walking on cement floors on an occasional to frequent basis
