Role:

Our team is a dynamic technology group with a mission to modernize and unify the user experience across all of Splunk’s product offerings. If you are passionate about building inclusive and equitable user experiences and architecting scalable UI platforms then this Senior Principal Engineer position is for you. We are building the state of the art Design Systems, and extendible frameworks and setting the UI standards for all of the company’s user experience development.

In this role, you will

  • Drive the UI architecture broadly to deliver on large mission-critical programs

  • Define the roadmap and architecture of Splunk’s central UI platforms

  • Be responsible for initiating, designing and driving forward high-impact ideas for the product areas and/or company

  • Set the standards of Front End development by performing code reviews, architecture and design reviews

  • Have broad cross-functional or cross-product impact in the organization and help set strategic direction for products and technology

  • Influence and achieve results through recognized technical expertise and thought leadership in the industry

  • Work across multiple feature teams, be a strong contributor in setting product architecture and connect the dots across teams

  • Work with Product Management and Engineering to help drive alignment on product direction

  • Participate in high-profile and critical customer engagements and meet with customers as needed

  • Be the technical spokesperson to convey architectural ideas and decisions to senior management as well as to senior architects in the org

  • Be the technology advocate for the company and participate in due diligence activities, conferences, meet-ups etc

  • Provide technical leadership across multiple Splunk products and is frequently consulted by Senior Leadership

  • Be actively involved in hiring of technical leads, architects, and senior engineering leaders

Requirements:

To be successful, you have:

  • Led the UI architecture of large scale enterprise products

  • Expertise in building and scaling web and/or client-side technologies

  • Expertise in building and driving adoption of large scale Design Systems

  • Experienced with designing and integrating client code and API layers

  • Demonstrated expertise with web frameworks such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, React

  • Has experienced the full product lifecycle from inception through scale

  • Delivered exceptional business outcomes in cloud, and hybrid scenarios

  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical strategy for large engineering teams and projects

  • Mentored senior and/or principal engineers to get them to the next level

  • 15+ years of engineering experience in agile settings with a Bachelor’s degree or 12 years with a Master’s degree in a related field.

Note:

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $242,400.00 - 333,300.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $218,160.00 - 299,970.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $193,920.00 - 266,640.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
