Eaton Corporation Senior Legal Counsel in Queretaro, Mexico

Eaton’s legal organization is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel, Latin America who will be located in Mexico.​

What you’ll do:

Job Summary

Eaton is currently seeking a Senior Legal Counsel - Latin America, to join the Law team. This position is based at our Mexico City offices. This Senior Legal Counsel role shall have generalist legal responsibilities in multiple business divisions and functions within Eaton’s Latin America region. Reporting directly to a key executive leader on the Chief Legal Officer's team, the Legal Counsel - Latin America will experience a variety of tasks and challenges related to competition law and trade, channel distribution regulations, litigation, contracts, labor and employment law, health and safety, real estate, intellectual property, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, ethics investigations, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FPCA) and Anti-Corruption law and government relations.

Qualifications:

Education level required:

• JD degree from an accredited law school

Years and area of experience required:

• Minimum of 12 years of business legal counsel experience at a public company; Fluent verbal and writing skills in Spanish. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in large, multinational, manufacturing companies with large multi-regional footprint.

Technical knowledge

• Licensed Attorney in Mexico

Soft skills:

• Demonstrated legal knowledge and leadership.

• Sound strategic thinking.

• Ability to provide legal support to executives, clients and other attorneys.

• Ability to manage complex professional relationships working in a large established law practice, corporation or government office. Excellent and proactive collaboration skills are a must.

• Possesses a global view as well as the ability to dig deep into the details to meet internal and external customer needs.

• Knows when it is necessary to use influence to drive difficult decisions as well as understands when additional investigation is required.

• Excellent spoken and written communications skills and the ability to adapt the message to effectively share information with internal and external stakeholders.

• Genuinely enjoys the practice of corporate law, naturally inquisitive and demonstrates tenacity when working on complex projects.

• Experience with a large law practice, corporate legal department or government office providing ample opportunities to work on a wide variety of projects.

• Comfort in juggling heavy workload and multiple matters.

• Demonstrated leadership, sound strategic thinking and ability to support executives, clients and other attorneys.

• Eager to take on leadership initiatives and challenging opportunities.

• Established success of working in multiple different cultures.
