Job Description

The Computer Engineer will play a critical role in planning, leading, and conducting site surveys to gather necessary information for creating detailed plans of products and services, support equipment, and computer and electronic installations essential for mission operations. Responsibilities include planning and directing regular, special, and integrated system test programs. The engineer will also prepare and deliver reports and presentations containing actionable insights relevant to individual site operations.

Key duties involve conducting integrated equipment system testing, providing on-the-job training to FBI and junior contractor personnel, and coordinating with other field engineers to support the FBI and specifically ONTU. The role may include additional duties as assigned within the scope of work.

  Technical Skills and Experience:

• Experience in system design, development, integration, prototyping, and troubleshooting within a nation-wide distributed environment.

• Ability to evaluate new hardware and software solutions, recommend novel solutions for operational network challenges, and work directly with technical personnel to resolve technical issues.

• Proficiency in communicating and diagnosing IT problems with personnel of varying technical expertise.

• Competence in evaluating, prototyping, providing proof of concept integration, testing, and performance validation, including documenting findings and determining operational suitability.

• Capability to develop and implement high-level strategies for introducing updated hardware and software into production environments.

• Skill in reviewing commonly failing instruments, assessing internal components for accessibility and commercial availability, and making fiscally responsible recommendations for action.

  Programming and Technical Proficiency:

• Mastery of programming languages, including PowerShell, Python, and C#.

• Expertise in Group Policy design and management.

• Experience in deploying resources and designing solutions in Cloud environments.

• Proficiency in using scripting languages to automate system deployments.

  Specific Technical Knowledge:

• Microsoft (current version) Storage Spaces Direct (S2D).

• Microsoft (current version) Failover Clustering.

• Microsoft System Center monitoring components/methods.

• Experience with mass storage arrays and servers.

• Dell OpenManage Essentials.

• Windows Server Update Services.

• Containers.

• SQL Server.

• Azure Stack Edge.
