Your day at NTT DATA

Will be responsible to drive best practices, innovation and process improvements at Data Centre locations. These improvements would increase efficiencies and lower costs to our customers. This includes the setup and configuration of backups, setting up backup, retention and rotation plus tape handling responsibilities. It also includes configuring system components, on-going maintenance and restoration of backups and addressing backup issues 7x24. Completion of periodic reports relating to our backups will also be required.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation and configuration of data protection server software and associated components

• Setting up data deduplication disk pools and tape backup devices

• Establishing replication between locations

• Understanding of network routing and firewall requirements to ensure our backups are using our dedicated backup infrastructure

• Develop and implement automated solutions to support operational and SLA objectives.

• Respond quickly and effectively to backup issues and outages

• Strong documentation skills along with the ability to train junior level personnel on day to day data backup tasks

• Provide recommendations to improve design and reduce cost

• Creation of reports for both clients and management

• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations for storage Backup support

• Provide technical leadership to more junior team members

• Has experience working in a large storage environment with formal change management practices

• Must be detail-oriented with good organization skills

• Excellent troubleshooting skills

• Additional knowledge in Backup software is desirable: TSM

• Knowledge of encryption of the Backup environment preferred

Detailed level of activities:

1. Monitoring of Backup Schedules

2. Monitoring Tape Libraries

3. Troubleshooting Backup alerts

4. Perform Flat File level restorations / drills

5. Reconfiguring and discovering tape drives

6. Policy Creations / Deletion / Modification for configured hosts

7. Configuration and database backup as per the policy defined

8. 24X7 monitoring of performance parameters (Parameters as per "Monitored Parameters & Threshold" document)

9. User based requests – New Backup requests, restoration of data etc.

10. LUN management

11. License management

12. SAN Switch management

13. RAID group creation

14. Firmware upgrade in coordination with OEM

15. SAN switch configurations (zoning, masking)

16. Controller configuration

17. SAN performance tuning

18. Storage space and switch ports capacity management

19. Trouble shooting & root cause analysis for incidents / faults (Severity 1 only)

20. Identifying bottlenecks and suggesting de-bottlenecking solution.

21. Take appropriate actions on Missed and Failed Backup jobs.

22. Tape/media management.
