Senior Manager, Strategy Implementation & Operational Excellence

Our BMS pipeline is a core catalyst for achieving sustained growth through 2030 and will benefit millions of patients with cancer and other serious diseases. To deliver this promise, we require an R&D operating model that is efficient, resilient, and flexible in the face of a rapidly evolving external and internal landscape. Our R&D Strategy Implementation & Operational Excellence team is comprised of industry and strategic change execution experts who will navigate and guide the R&D organization through our journey and transformation. Examples of recent projects include the R&D Integration Office, Clinical Research COVID-19 Response Team, 5-year vision setting for Global Drug Development, and several large-scale initiatives to drive quality, cycle time, and cost improvements. As Senior Manager, Strategy Implementation & Operational Excellence, you will be accountable for leading cross-functional strategic initiatives, work streams, or deliverables linked to our R&D strategies and corporate/divisional objectives. These initiatives require strong matrix leaders with drug development acumen and are passionate about applying robust strategic change execution methods and best practices. The Senior Manager will be developing experience and competency in leading projects, understanding pharma drug development, communicating effectively, and cultivating effective relationships.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Managing cross-functional strategic initiatives, work streams, or deliverables; applying robust strategic change execution methods and best practices; developing realization mindset focused on delivering initiative goals

• Assisting with strategic planning workshops and/or high priority short-burst projects to advance and achieve strategic imperatives

• Supporting our Operational Excellence capability deployment strategy which includes continuous improvement projects, training, communities of practice, and business process management

• Proactively identifying opportunities/challenges across our business; structuring and mobilizing cross-functional initiatives

• Seeking opportunities to contribute as a thought partner to initiative or work stream team members

• Building a network of senior R&D leaders and functional change agents to accelerate project delivery and to ensure project and strategic goals are realized

• Demonstrating effective change execution principles and method

Experience & Skills:

• BA/BS degree required; advanced degree preferred

• 2-5+ years of pharma industry experience preferred

• Demonstrated project management and change management experience

• Budding cross-functional / matrix leadership skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive presentations

• Commitment and passion for achieving desired outcomes (i.e. value, quality, speed, cost)

• Open to high intensity, ambiguous, and/or complicated settings

• Cultivating highly effective partnerships and relationships with senior executives and peers
