GENERAL SUMMARY

This is a professional services position supporting information technology software applications and programs for the Maine Judicial Branch (MJB). The Business Analyst Technology Trainer (BATT) is primarily responsible for the delivery of business application training to Maine Judicial Branch (MJB) staff in a classroom-based or remote setting. Training responsibilities include material preparation and delivery of training on MJB business applications (e.g., Windows, Mac OS, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, Zoom, DocuSign, ShareFile, etc.) and high-level, navigation-based Case Management System (CMS) training (e.g., MEJIS, Odyssey, etc.). Additionally, the BATT will provide training for non-CMS (Court Case Management System) applications such as reSearch, Odyssey Portal, Defendant Access, and others. Additional applications that require material development and training include: the Marshal Record Management System (RMS), Jury Information System (JIST), FileMaker Applications, Workday, and others. The BATT may also, at times, be required to support Court Operations training efforts on the Odyssey and MEJIS CMS. This position will also be expected to provide technical training and support on various technology-based projects and initiatives within the MJB. Training efforts will be guided by the Business Analyst - Technology Training Coordinator.

The BATT is expected to support the design and development of new application training materials, as well as maintain and update existing curriculums and materials.

In the BATTs business analyst capacity, the incumbent will provide direct end-user customer support for all assigned tier-2 application support issues. Participation in requirements gathering processes and the performance of quality assurance testing of applications is also expected from time to time.

The BATT works closely with the Senior Technology Business Analyst, the Business Analyst / Technology Training Coordinator, the Human Resources Coordinator, as well as other MJB subject matter experts. The incumbent reports to the Senior Technology Business Analyst.

Statewide travel and non-standard work hours are required.

*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS *\ *

  • Provides classroom and remote based training for desktop applications including, Windows, Mac OS, E-mail, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Prepares and delivers application training programs to various groups at the Capital Judicial Center in Augusta and at various locations throughout the State of Maine.
  • Provides answers to subject matter questions during training sessions.
  • Makes presentations at regional meetings, clerks conferences, and other meetings.
  • Delivers follow-up training in person and remotely to the MJB Judges and staff.
  • Maintains a database record of training attendees.
  • Maintains a list of questions asked by trainees and answers to such questions, and updates training materials as needed.
  • Creates test cases in applications for users and as required by the training program curriculums.
  • Assists the technical staff by providing training support during times of software and hardware upgrades and implementations.
  • Assists the Business Analyst / Technology Training Coordinator with the development of schedules for technology training.
  • Assists Business Analyst / Technology Training Coordinator in evaluating effectiveness of training, and analyzes feedback from trainees to recommend course design and delivery improvements.
  • Assists with logistical arrangements for all technology-training activities.
  • Assists in developing and implementing application-training plans for both new and existing Judicial Branch applicatio s.
  • Assists in maintaining written training materials and manuals designed and prepared for the implementation and use of applications.
  • Assists in validating training materials including the manuals, handouts, training databases, and presentation tools prior to delivery of training program.
  • Assists with development of appropriate training methods in consultation with OIT staff and the Business Analyst - Technology Training Coordinator.
  • Assists in development of on-line help features, training videos, and other training resources as needed.
  • Travels to courts and other training sites as needed to provide training and on-site support.
  • Resolves all assigned tier-2 application support issues in accordance with established priority timeframes.
  • Participates in Change Control Group sessions as needed.
  • Performs quality assurance testing of Judicial Branch applications in consultation with the QA Lead and/or the OIT manager.
