JOB TITLE: Radiology Services Manager DEPARTMENT: Radiology STATUS: Full-time, Exempt REPORTS TO: COO POSITION SUMMARY: The Radiology Services Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the operational activities for the Radiology Department. The position’s major responsibilities are managing all operations including the delivery of care, human resource management, capital and operational budgeting, equipment oversight, financial management, and performance improvement. The Radiology Services Manager will also maintain technical duties, performing patient diagnostic imaging. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Radiology Staff Oversight

● Develops optimal staffing models to meet operational needs and budgetary constraints. ● Manages all Radiology Department employees, including participation in interviewing and hiring new employees and orienting them on overall job requirements and policies. ● Regularly interacts with Radiology Department employees on a one-on-one basis and through department staff meetings as needed. ● Counsel employees on unsatisfactory performance and work behavior. ● Prepares and delivers annual employee performance evaluations. ● Delegates work duties and responsibilities. ● Approves employee time off and adjusts work schedules to assure proper staff coverage. ● Completes Radiology Department staff payroll on a bi-weekly basis. Manage Budgets and Inventory ● Assists in preparation of capital and operating budgets for Radiology Department. ● Participates in the selection and initiates purchasing of major and minor capital equipment items, including negotiating with vendors for best possible contracts and securing quotes for radiology equipment and service agreements. ● Responsible for acquiring, managing, and ensuring optimal usage of consumable supply inventories for Radiology Department. ● Works in cooperation with Director of Corporate Administration, identifying present and future needs for equipment installation. ● Oversees activities of vendors & contractors in all phases of installation and implementation of new systems. ● Oversees all PMG Radiology equipment maintenance and systems testing, upgrading, and installing. Management of Operations and New Program Development ● Responsible for the operation of PACS equipment including image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, and prefetching and other related activities. Works closely with PMG Radiology Department employees to ensure timely and complete capture of DICOM digital image data into the PACS system as well as network transmission, RIS validation, and exceptions handling. ● Monitors and resolves issues related to PACS applications and associated equipment; performs troubleshooting on all moderate and complex issues and provides appropriate feedback. ● Maintains knowledge on all PACS systems and work processes and monitors all logs for error in applications. ● Coordinate with vendors and various departments to resolve issues and provide application support. ● Assists in the development of operating standards, policies, procedures, and imaging protocols. ● Assists in management of accreditation process, including ensuring all Radiology Department policies and procedures meet appropriate standards. ● Investigates, identifies, and prepares proposals to solve specific operational problems involving the next level of administration as appropriate. ● Provides training to all new users and vendors for imaging PACS systems. Provides end user support. ● Seeks ways to increase internal utilization of PMG Imaging including development of educational materials / video instructions for staff and physicians. ● Serves as a resource for all PMG staff regarding Radiology Department questions/concerns, including patient prep and billing. ● Participates in outreach to new providers and staff to onboard them to PMG Radiology. ● Research imaging related operational and billing questions as requested. ● Prepares reports for administration on all aspects of medical imaging operations as requested. ● Assists patients who are seeing physicians outside of PMG to have access to their PMG Radiology images. ● Attends to all radiology needs of Premier Medical Group (excluding Cardiology & Podiatry.) Technical Duties ● Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. ● Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing diagnostic imaging including explaining the procedure to the patient and positioning patient to provide the best view. ● Reviews patient’s medical history, previously available diagnostic imaging, and physician’s instructions. Ensures that there is an electronic order for the diagnostic imaging test to be done. ● Performs highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed examination; documents any deviations. Follows the protocol for imaging and measurements required for each study. ● Applies independent, professional, ethical judgment, and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic imaging procedures. ● Applies independent judgment during diagnostic imaging examination to ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions are accurately captured in the examination images. ● As necessary, acquires additional imaging to facilitate optimum diagnostic results for the interpreting physician. ● Identifies and documents any limitations to the diagnostic imaging examination. ● Reviews examination images, synthesizes examination results, and prepares the preliminary findings. ● Consults other departments, as needed and as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs. ● Understands and practices proper use of all equipment. ● Complies with safety, infection control, and quality improvement policies/procedures. ● Meets current documentation standards and policies and completes within the shift, including transmission of completed exams to internal PACS system. ● Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures ● Assess patient’s understanding of process and informed consent of invasive procedures. ● Performs all equipment quality control checks. ● Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient. ● Maintains patient care areas with appropriate supplies. ● Travels to all facility locations as required. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE ● 10+ years of relevant medical imaging experience. ● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary. ● Experience with effectively managing resources and budgets. ● Ability to work independently and to use initiative and independent judgement. ● Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audience, including employees, physicians, Senior Management, and vendors.
