Aerotek Automation Technician in Poughkeepsie, New York

Description:

Responsibilities include repairing, installing, and maintaining equipment, machinery, building and facilities. The qualified candidate will quickly respond to Production line calls so Production personnel will know the status of the machinery and repairs. Candidate will operate and observe machinery in order to test their performance while troubleshooting and repairing Production department electrical equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

2 years experience required in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably food and beverage industry 1 year minimum experience with one or more technical experiences: Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer controlled equipment, PLC and HVAC 1 year minimum experience on a variety of equipment including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment. Jack of all trades- A little more then a handyman. Someone who doesn't gets overwhelmed. • Supports the companies mission, vision, strategic plan, goals and management decisions; adheres to department mission and goals. • Maintains a strong commitment and support of the global food safety initiative. • Follow and understand standards for food safety and food quality production reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies. • Follows and understands proper Good Hygiene, Safe Work Practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), to aide in providing a safe quality product. • Responsible for reporting any potential contamination and suspicious activity to a Supervisor or Manager immediately. • Responsible for reporting food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. • Works directly with the Maintenance Manager and other mechanics to troubleshoot and repair equipment and infrastructure. • Evaluates and recommends improvements in methods, procedures and processes. Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills • Knowledge of basic electrical, mathematical, mechanical and plumbing skills. • Ability to properly use forklift when trained and certified • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, contracts, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
