A well-respected firm in the Local Government field is working with Patricia Carlile at Robert Half to find a Finance Specialist Senior with previous accounting experience. Preparing and consolidating financial statements, analyzing and reconciling accounts, analyzing cash flow, creating budgets and forecasts, preparing audits, and managing internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting are among the key responsibilities for this role. This position requires top-notch analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This Senior Accountant role is based in Portland, Oregon with a company in the Local Government field. What you get to do every single day

• Supply Balance Sheet account reconciliations

• Prepare financial analysis on trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc.

• Continuously analyze current automation of the accounting and reporting process and present improvement suggestions

• Aid in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

• When working with business partners, ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls. Additionally, be able to provide support on special requests

• Offer involvement in various department-wide initiatives

• Produce error-free monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables such as journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP

• Administer Ad-hoc projects as necessary

• Provide monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting

Requirements - Strong communication and social skills

• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

• Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills

• BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

• Experience in SOX control execution/documentation

• Understanding of corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

• Ability to meet deadlines

• 3-5 years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

• Adeptness in Financial Statement Audits

• Demonstrated knowledge of compliance

• General familiarity with technical accounting

• GAAP Accounting experience highly preferred

• Auditing experience highly desired

• Auditing experience required

• Foundational knowledge in Audit Findings

• Practical knowledge of internal control review

• Solid understanding of financial reporting

• Proficiency in Audit Engagements

• Self-starter and strong ethical standards

• Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

• Able to manage time well

• Experience with ERP systems

• Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
