The permanent Controller position is situated in the Portland, Oregon area. The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This role's duties will require effectively managing self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and challenging the status quo. What you get to do every single day

• Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

• Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

• Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective

• Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

• Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations

• Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

• Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

• Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

• Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

• Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

• Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

Requirements - Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

• Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

• Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

• Solid understanding of month end closings

• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

• Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills

• CPA/MBA preferred

• Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills highly desired

• Vow to meet business deadlines

• Prior work done in public accounting is desired

• Strong attention to detail

• Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
