A Brief Overview

The Manager Security Services will focus on fully developing and managing the security programs for all Security employees assigned to their respective area. This person is responsible for all Security employee training, scheduling and performance appraisals. Assists the Director in the employee selection process, disciplinary process and other day-to-day operational aspects of personnel administration. Makes recommendations for Department Policies and Procedures. Maintains various Department data base systems and serves as the Department safety specialist. The role will heavily focus on aligning all operations SOPs and policies with those utilized by Stanford Healthcare Security while fully integrating technical systems and operations into the Security Operations Center.

What you will do

  • Implement, develop, revise and maintain Security Policies, Strategies, and Standards for a Healthcare Business Unit. Ensures alignment with main hospital policies and standards where appropriate.

  • Responsible for Staffing, Training, Developing, and Leading a “Best-in-Class” security team. Develops appropriate coverage schedules. Hires, disciplines and mentors’ staff. Determines staffing needs.

  • Identifies and works directly with appropriate contracting agencies. Manages vendors, negotiates contracts.

  • Develops relationships and works across multiple internal and external teams in both daily activities and during crisis level events. Includes Local Police, Fire, Ambulatory, and State/Federal Agencies. Provides leadership in managing real-time incidents and crisis situations.

  • Prepares unit budget, manages expenses and assists the Security Services Director with Budget Development and Management.

  • Provides oversight of security equipment and systems.

  • Functions may vary based on defined specialties:

  • LPCH Security Services Manager:

  • Area of responsibility restricted to LPCH (Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital).

  • SOM Security Services Manager:

  • Area of responsibility restricted to SOM (School of Medicine).

Education Qualifications

  • Job requires a Bachelor’s degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered. Relevant experience in lieu of degree is in addition to the experience requirements for this position.

Experience Qualifications

  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current Security technology to include Card Access, IP CCTV, Mass Notification, Identity Management, Investigative and Crisis Management Software.

  • Certifications or demonstrated knowledge of HIPPA, PCI, ISO22301, and ISO/IEC 27001 to include knowledge of Infant Abduction Monitoring systems, Packard Pass, Digilock systems to include Intellikey.

  • Expert user in Excel and ability to develop detailed Metric and Financial reports.

  • Working knowledge of Police and EMS response protocols and practices.

  • Experience with Security Officer support models, Physical Security Technology, Investigations, Life-Safety and Loss prevention initiatives, Policy, Audit, Compliance, and Crisis Management and Business Continuity Programs.

  • Extensive experience in a Corporate or Healthcare Security environment.

  • Substantial experience in managing Real-Time Incidents, Multiple Concurrent Incidents, and Crisis Level Situations.

  • Detailed understanding of KPIs and SLAs as related to Alarm Events and Physical Response.

  • Experience in Vendor Management, Contract Negotiation, and Understanding of Departmental Budget and Finance.

  • High Ethical standards with proven ability to handle Confidential and Critical Information.

  • Demonstrates excellent judgement, discretion, and diplomacy.

  • Exhibits excellent problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bi-Lingual.

  • CADL - California Drivers License - Valid And In State .

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $59.14 - $78.37 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
