Luminator is seeking to fill our full-time  Electrical Engineer  role to join our growing and dynamic Aerospace Engineering Team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator. 

The successful Electrical Engineer  is g oal-oriented and possesses the ability to prioritize on a consistent basis in an ever-changing environment. They have excellent analytical, negotiation, organization, and presentation skills and strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management or other outside partners.  You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Electrical for our Aerospace products   in accordance with industry best practices. This role also creates and optimizes code, integrates real-time operating systems, develops device drivers, and ensures seamless interaction between hardware and software components while delivering reliable and efficient embedded systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform engineering tasks.

  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical system, to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.

  • Confer with engineers, customers, or others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products.

  • Design, implement, maintain, or improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, or systems for commercial, industrial, or domestic purposes.

  • Direct or coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements.

  • Compile data and write reports regarding existing or potential electrical engineering studies or projects.

  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, or installation standards or specifications.

  • Prepare specifications for purchases of materials or equipment.

  • Estimate labor, material, or construction costs for budget preparation purposes.

  • Supervise or train project team members, as necessary.

  • Conduct field surveys or study maps, graphs, diagrams, or other data to identify and correct power system problems.

  • Investigate customer complaints to determine the nature and extent of problems.

  • Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational, safety, or environmental standards.

  • Plan or implement research methodology or procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    The Electrical Engineer will be an experienced, operationally oriented professional who can successfully lead as a very hands-on Engineer to scale for additional growth and maximize potential.

    This professional will possess:

  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Use mathematics to solve problems.

  • Understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.

  • Use scientific rules and methods to solve problems.

  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).

  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).

  • Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams; E xperience with structural, thermal and/or tolerance analysis.

  • Proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications is required, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Prior experience with electrical  systems: Altium, LTSpice, SolidWorks preferred.

  • 4-7 years of relevant experience. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related engineering degree with an electrical engineering emphasis required. Master’s degree preferred.

    ADDITIONAL PRIORITIES: 

  • The Electrical Engineer will prioritize and broadly execute the following:

  • Proficiency in using Electronics design tools such as Altium, PADS or Cadence.

  • Proven experience designing microcontroller-based projects from concept to finished product.

  • Experience operating lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and multimeters.

  • Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C) and other hardware interfaces.

  • Knowledge of National Instruments LabVIEW/LabWindows is a plus.

  • Experience writing firmware and digital electronics design is a plus.

  • Experience designing electronics for regulated industries such as medical or aerospace is a plus.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio is beneficial.

    LOCATION:

    Plano is a city in the state of Texas, just north of downtown Dallas. It is a hub for many corporate headquarters and has been rated by Forbes as the safest city in 2011. Plano has many visitors, 80% of which are business travelers. The Preston Road area is home to major corporate headquarters of Fortune 1000 companies which have brought thousands of jobs to the area.

    Plano has two major space reserves: Arbor Hills Nature Preserve (200 acres) and Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve (800 acres). Bob Woodruff Park and Oak Point Park are connected by biking trails providing an abundance of outdoor recreation for families in Plano. These parks also include activities such as zip lining and Tarzan swings. They have five recreation centers that feature pools, dog parks, and amphitheaters for entertainment. This represents 84 parks. They feature an annual balloon festival every September that draws thousands.

    Collin College has two campuses in Plano. Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Dallas Baptist University also have campuses in Plano. There are 70 public schools and 16 private schools. Plano has more graduates than other comparable communities in Texas, graduating 93% of their classes, and score 18 percentage points higher than the same population in Dallas. Many graduate as National Merit Scholars.

    Plano is served by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). They provide commuter services via bus and light rail systems. The system is used by 1% of the population.

    As far as arts, culture, and entertainment, Plano is home to over 700 restaurants. There is a thriving downtown scene that is rated in the top ten within the country. This includes new office spaces as well as major retail establishments. Plano is a major, busy, bustling city and one of the best places in the United States to live.
