Casella Construction, Inc. Construction Superintendent in Pittsford, Vermont

Casella Construction is seeking a Construction Superintendent to join our team. The Superintendent is responsible for the field planning and management process of all related aspects of the Construction project. The Superintendent ensures that the quality of work and materials are upheld, and the schedule is followed as planned. Ensures the company’s safety policies and procedures are followed.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages on-site operations for civil construction, heavy highway, utility (pipe) installation, and site projects.

  • Maintains a safe work environment by adhering to safety policies, promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices, and rectifies job site hazards immediately.

  • Supervises and directs field crews and subcontractors.

  • Directs time sheets for labor and equipment, as well as daily reports with quantities worked.

  • Reviews and submits weekly accountability reports.

  • Understands the project plans, specifications and the company procedures, software, and technology.

  • Meets production targets to ensure successful delivery of projects within the schedule.

  • Manages labor and equipment time to achieve maximum productivity that meets budgets.

  • Reviews and approves monthly job costs updates.

  • Orders materials and schedules inspections as necessary throughout construction project.

  • Interviews and hires staff as needed.

  • Recommends organizational, procedural, policy, and staffing changes as appropriate.

  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with clients, engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and field staff.

  • Creates an environment that encourages people to do their best; motivates subcontractors, vendors, and others to accomplish the project.

  • Ensures all parties know when they are meeting expectations, resolves problems and addresses issues head on.

  • Focuses effort and time on what is most important by identifying critical priorities; plans for and adjusts for issues and challenges.

    Qualifications:

  • Construction Management, Engineering, related degree degree and/or at least 5 years of experience as superintendent in a civil construction company.

  • Experience with Heavy Highway, Utility (pipe) Installation and site projects.

  • Experience with mass excavation operations.

  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.

  • Experience with HDPE piping.

  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam software and Tremble GPS systems.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Must have OSHA 10 Certificate.

  • OSHA 30 Certificate preferred.

  • Through knowledge of construction and trade activities, tools, equipment operation and skills of various trade types.

  • Valid drivers license is required, as well as a safe driving record.

  • Ability to work outside in all weather.

  • Analyze and diagnose problems, develop solutions, and recommend an effective course of action.

  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities by taking the initiative to build, develop, and motivate the team through effective communications, managing conflict, and problem solving.

  • A high degree of ethics and integrity to do the right thing in the right way.

Casella Construction offers competitive salary and bonus program along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, long and short-term disability, supplemental insurances and 401k retirement with company match up to 4 % with immediate vesting. Company paid Holidays and paid time off after 90days.

Base Salary Hiring Range: $104,000 - $137,758.00

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for bonus opportunities, company perks such as company vehicle, and additional perks.

Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
