UPMC Supervisor, EVS in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

UPMC St. Margaret is looking for a Supervisor, EVS!

This position is Monday through Friday, 2:30PM to 11PM! If you have at least 3 years of relevant experience and 1 year of leadership experience, we encourage you to apply below!

Purpose:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of Lead Persons Floor & Project Technician and Housekeepers engaged in cleaning and maintaining premises of UPMC. Assign tasks to workers and inspect completed work for conformance to standards. Oversee the distribution of supplies and equipment. Resolve employee problems or refer matters to the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Discharges in area of responsibility are completed within one hour from the time it is assigned.

  • Attend all mandatory departmental and hospital in-services.

  • Daily contact with head nurses and/or unit clerks to discuss opportunities.

  • Provide all legitimate requests within facility are met immediately, giving the department a high reputation for service.

  • Present department in a positive manner to patients, visitors and other hospital personnel.

  • Submit work orders for all applicable maintenance repairs in the area of responsibility.

  • Check assigned areas regularly to ensure personnel are performing work and following their work schedule. React appropriately to noted observations and reinforce behavior through either praise or corrective action.

  • Ensure that sufficient supplies and equipment are available.

  • Complete supervisor's Development Program. Prepare sign-in sheets at least one week in advance. Start the shift on time and arranges to have adequate coverage at all times by using personnel effectively.

  • Ensure that all chemicals and solutions are in properly labeled containers at all times.

  • Oversee Lead Housekeepers, Housekeepers, and Floor and Project Technicians.

  • Ability to work under pressure as difficult situations arises.

  • Prepare administrative and employee documentation, monitor employee records and performance, meeting establish deadlines or respond in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Make recommendations for, and assist with, corrective action under guidance or Operations Manager.

  • Approve PTO assigned staff within departmental guidelines.

  • Carry and answer 24 hours pager.

  • Perform assigned duties in case of internal and external disasters, and fires/drills.

  • Act as a liaison between all shifts with no noted communication problems.

  • Complete a minimum of 5 inspections daily utilizing Pocket PC Technology.

  • Equipment is kept clean at all times, and in good running order.

  • Inspect 10% of all discharges when assigned to patient areas.

  • Is proactive, creative and innovative in designing methods to improve and sustain high-level performance and productivity with department.

  • Maintains knowledge of and works in compliance with Joint commission, Department of Health, OSHA and other regulatory agencies.

  • Has knowledge of waste management policies.

  • Also makes sure all employees have logged in at the start of their work shift and have logged out at the end of their work shift.

  • Enforces hospital and departmental rules and regulations.

  • Schedules, maintains and coordinates project cleaning tasks for each shifts project crew.

  • Monitors safety and security practices of all department employees.

  • Orients and trains new employees.

  • Participates in interviewing, selecting, evaluating, counseling and commending employees according to hospital and departmental policy.

  • Performs competency verifications and performance management reviews within time guidelines as assigned by department director.

  • Complies with and follows Guidelines and Procedures established for Lead Environmental Services Aide.

  • Familiar with patient rights and HIPAA. Observes and respects the confidentiality of patients and personnel as per hospital policy.

  • Advises and assists housekeepers as necessary.

  • Performs job responsibilities in compliance with Performance Standards created for position.

  • Conducts interviews with tenants and department managers on a daily basis to ensure quality of service.

  • Responds and resolves service complaints.

  • Communicate with and keep department director well informed of situations, reactions, breakdown of equipment/supplies needed to promote a positive work environment.

  • Answers all alert calls as to stats not being cleaned, employees not logging in after breaks or lunches.

  • Has knowledge of Infection Control policies, Environment of Care Management plans, safety policies (patient safety goals, hospital disaster plan) OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens and Hazard Communication Program.

  • Monitors and conducts meeting set ups as assigned by their supervisor.

  • Maintains working knowledge and proper usage of Bed Tracking System.

  • Makes rounds to ensure that all department employees have completed their daily assignments.

  • Handles laundering of Environmental Services department items. (i.e. mop heads, microfiber mops, microfiber green cloths, cubicle drapes and bonnets)

  • HS Diploma/GED required.

  • 3 years relevant experience required.

  • 1-year relevant leadership experience required.

  • Knowledge and familiarity with chemical use and dilution rates.

  • Basic computer knowledge to include familiarity with MS Office. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
