Student Services Director

The Student Services Director of the Katz PhD Program in Business serves as a member of the Katz PhD Program Team and assists with department strategic planning, goal setting, and assessment; directing, planning, and implementing policy; budgeting and financial management; payroll, and student admissions, support, and services. The Student Services Director oversees the management and administration of all program areas to meet the needs and interests of the Business School graduate students and faculty, the Pitt community, and external accrediting agencies. The Student Services Director also provides professional staff leadership and supervision to full-time staff, and indirectly oversees student employees and graduate student assistants. As a leader and role model, the Student Services Director enhances the experience and growth of graduate students through their tenure in the PhD Program. Essential skills needed encompass multiple domains of programming, strategic planning and implementation, leadership, fiscal management, marketing and promotions, administration, supervision, and day to day program operations.

Job Summary

Provides direction and oversight of the student services programs. Plans, organizes, and directs goals for assigned units and participates in strategic planning and decision-making efforts. Develops budgets and performs associated financial duties. Oversees student records and advises student groups. Directs the management of and response to student crises.

Essential Functions

Coordination and management of administrative functions and performance of special projects in the student services, recordkeeping, and support areas.

Physical Effort

Generally sedentary.
