The Children's Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) Flex Full-Time (Weekend Position) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The Children's Home of Pittsburgh is seeking Flex Full-Time Registered Nurses for our Pediatric Specialty Hospital. This position is required to work 56 hours per pay period, working two 12 hour shifts every weekend. Weekends are defined for this position only as Friday at 7:00am to Monday at 7:00am. This position is expected to work any holiday shifts that should fall on the weekend.
This position is required to flex up to 36 hours per week 8 weeks a year as follows:
- 6 weeks in the summer months (defined as Memorial Day to Labor Day)
- 2 weeks at any other point in the year
Our Pediatric Specialty Hospital offers a 1:3 nurse to patient ratio. RNs provide competent, developmentally appropriate, professional, and quality nursing care by applying clinical nursing knowledge and skills, utilizing the nursing process and assuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, institutional and professional standards.

Requirements
- Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through the completion of an accredited school of nursing.
- Minimum of two years of experience in order to have (a) acquired a thorough knowledge of the scientific principles of nursing (b) acquired a thorough knowledge of professional nursing standards; (c) developed skill in neonatal and/or pediatric nursing techniques and the ability to adapt techniques based on individual needs; and (d) become familiar with hospital policies, procedures and standards.
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Current CPR certification.
- Analytical ability necessary to assess and evaluate the patients' condition and utilize the nursing process and professional judgment in planning and providing comprehensive care to patients. Ability to integrate patient related data from various sources into the plan of care and appraisal of condition.
- Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to communicate with patients, family members, medical staff, and families in sensitive situations. Ability to work cooperatively within the framework of the nursing team.
- Physical ability necessary for constant standing, walking, and lifting 10 to 50 lbs. A high level of stamina also necessary for the frequent lifting and moving of patients and the carrying of supplies and equipment.
- Emotional/mental ability to perform effectively and efficiently under the daily pressure of stressful or emergency situations.
