Carnegie Mellon University Director of Risk Operations - Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) in PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 2021490 Carnegie Mellon, one of the world leaders in higher education and research, is seeking an experienced and dedicated leader to join its Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department as the Director of Risk Operations. ERM supports organizational resiliency with a risk-conscious culture that aligns to the strategic mission and values of the university. In this role you will collaborate with ERM leadership and partners to align with the strategic goals and objectives of the university to effectively identify, recommend, and communicate the risk tolerance of the institution.

As an operations leader, you will manage a team of professionals dedicated to supporting the university's safety, risk and compliance management technology services. You will also work in partnership with the Chief Risk Officer to collaborate with risk and compliance stakeholders throughout the university regarding effective risk and compliance ownership, prioritization, management and treatment. You will achieve these and other goals through collaboration with all ERM staff and university partners in the efficient and integrated delivery of services. Responsibilities include: Technology Service Management: Lead staff in the administration and continuous process improvement of technology services that support ERM programs responsible for safety, security, risk and compliance. Risk Sensing and Analysis: Anticipate and direct the effective sensing and analysis of risks that have the potential to impact the university, as well as higher education, on a local, regional, or global scale. Risk Priorities Management: Lead in the assessment, management, and continuous process improvement of the university's risk priorities, including dynamic updates to the risk priorities dashboard. Risk and Compliance Training and Awareness: Provide training, awareness, and socialization to risk owners on effective and straightforward approaches to handling and mitigating risks. Travel Risk: Support and assist in the management of the university's travel risk management program, including the promotion and adoption of the university's preferred travel service provider and travel registration with International SOS (ISOS). Compliance Management: Support and assist in the rollout and adoption of a centralized Compliance Management Program, delivering training and customer service to compliance stakeholders in the use of the university's risk and compliance management software. Other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field required. Experience: A minimum of 8 years leading operations, safety, risk, or compliance teams. Certified Risk Manager (CRM),Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.

A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Requirements: Successful background check Child Protection Clearance (Act 153)

Additional Information: Work Posture: This position is currently operating on a hybrid schedule, with an on-campus/in office presence 3 days a week. May be required to be on call and work irregular or extended work hours to include, but not limited to, overtime, emergency hours, nights, and weekends.
