Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh Accounting Analyst II in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Reference #: R308 Position Summary The Accounting Analyst II is responsible for preparing timely and accurate regulatory financial reports, for processing and maintaining accounting records such as fixed assets, and preparing other internal and external accounting reports. In addition, this role reconciles the Bank's trade capture system for investments, debt, and derivatives to the general ledger.

Primary Success Factors

Prepares, monitors and processes the recording of accounting records including daily, monthly and quarterly general ledger entries as well as analysis of entries. Traces transactions to source documents and/or coordinates with other departments to research and resolve discrepancies and makes recommendations for correcting entries.

Prepares timely and accurate financial filings with the Office of Finance and Finance Agency. Responsible for coordinating and uploading the transfer of data within the systems.

Takes lead in gathering regulatory reporting information for the CRS (Finance Agency) submissions.

Prepares and reconciles the daily recons for the Bank's investments, debt, and derivatives and effectively works with bank wide staff to resolve issues.

Responsible for fixed asset accounting system. Compiles fixed asset and related depreciation entries through the fixed asset sub-ledger tool; reconciles fixed asset accounts and effectively resolves issues working with appropriate Bank staff.

Prepares certain disclosures in quarterly and annual SEC filings.

Prepares monthly internal financial reports for other departments and within Finance.

Responsible for annual 1099 filing including data gathering, reconcilement and distribution.

Provides backup to other Accounting Operations' functions, including General Ledger and Accounts Payable.

General assistance in other controllership functions as required.

Ensures compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations to ensure safe and sound business operations; works effectively and in support of other individuals and departments to achieve objectives listed herein. Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field

Three or more years of experience with an understanding of general accounting practices and experience with automated accounting systems

Thorough knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications

Understanding and ability to apply knowledge of accounting during reconciliation

Strong analytical skills necessary to identify and detect financial reporting issues

Ability to navigate a paperless environment, which includes software tools and ability to organize files electronically
