Responsibilities

The supervisor is responsible to develop, maintain, and improve service to customers 24 hours a day. Incumbent must recruit, select, mentor, coach, develop, discipline, and maintain a staff that will provide this service. This should be done through ongoing self-improvement, the promotion of continuous improvement, and by being a change agent.

The supervisor facilitates and coordinates the activities of the radiology physics employees and projects within the Radiology Department. Works directly with Diagnostic Medical Physicist to assure high quality, consistently reliable imaging acquisition and display with the lowest possible risk to the patient. Also responsible to acquire a comprehensive measure of diagnostic equipment operation, function and performance. Must maintain knowledge of all imaging modalities equipment and projects, physics IT infrastructure and all summary documents and procedures for performance testing. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels within the department as well as in the institution.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree required. Minimum two (2) years of experience in diagnostic medical physics or a similar field. Requires knowledge of radiology equipment operation and troubleshooting skills. Master's Degree preferred. A minimum of one (1) year of leadership and image quality control experience in the Mayo Radiology department is preferred. Must demonstrate leadership skills and ability to work independently

Additional Qualifications

A basic understanding of all imaging modalities is preferred. Ability to multitask and manage a variety of daily problems that arise including but not limited to patient related issues, equipment, technical competency, workflow, and supervisory duties. Thorough understanding of policies and procedures and be able to communicate expectations to employees. Ability to gain cooperation through leading by example, motivating individuals, and influencing others. Supervisor should be sensitive, assertive, and possess a management style that promotes teamwork and harmonious working relationship. Certified or eligible to be approved as a "qualified expert" by the Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency preferred.
