ROLE: Staff Accountant
LOCATION: US Remote
Context Travel is a remote team and has a preference to hire in the following states: CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, IL, ME, MA, NJ, NY, NC, PA. While we are open to hiring outside of these states, you must be located near a major metropolitan area. Please note your location and your closest international airport in your application.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Context is seeking a dynamic Staff Accountant who takes initiative, can adapt to a fast-paced environment and is comfortable working in a small team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will be an individual contributor, take ownership of accounts payable function, perform account reconciliations, own the month end close process and other ad-hoc projects as assigned. You’re diligent, not afraid of change, and have a continuous improvement mindset.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Own and oversee the Tipalti integrated accounts payable function and software ensuring accurate and timely payments to global network of vendors and experts (tour guides, online lecturers)
Keep up-to-date reporting compliance in accounts payable, deferred revenue, and international sales tax (VAT)
Prepare journal entries, analyses, account reconciliations
Process U.S. and International payrolls and assist HR with payroll related tasks
Own the month-end close process, research for account discrepancies and make appropriate corrections
Analyze current processes and procedures and recommend updates as needed
Support the global team by answering and researching accounting and financial questions
Assist with ad-hoc tasks and projects that may be assigned time to time
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
4 – 5 Years of accounting experience, strong numeracy and analytical skills
Working knowledge of GAAP
Start-up or small, high growth company experience strongly preferred
Willing to take initiative; work as team as well as independently as needed
Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and discretion
Professional integrity and sense of responsibility & accountability
Knowledge of Quickbooks and G-Suite will be very helpful
