The Department of Pathobiology at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine is inviting applications for a research position to study the host-pathogen interactions of the apicomplexan parasite Cryptosporidium. One area of experimental work will focus on phenotypic differences between strains using forward genetics. A second set of studies will use genetically engineered parasites to analyze the molecular basis of an observed phenotype. An in depth understanding of molecular parasitology and the associated experimental techniques is essential. The successful applicant for this position will be expected to be proficient in the genetic engineering of Cryptosporidium parasites and have extensive experience with rodent models of infection.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and 4-5 years of postdoctoral experience. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s training and experience.
