Rail Vehicle General Mechanic 1st and 2nd Class (0831, 0832)
SEPTA is recruiting for current and future openings in our City, Suburban, and Railroad Divisions.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the inspection, cleaning, maintenance of rail vehicle electrical, pneumatic and mechanic equipment in our City and Railroad Divisions.
Inspects, adjusts, replaces, tests, assembles, installs, motors, accessory parts, vehicle trucks, parts, truck frames, brake equipment, truck assemblies, air equipment, gears, wheels, brake shoes, etc.
Cleans and lubricates equipment, units, parts such as compressors, air filters, air tank mechanisms, brake cylinders, etc.
Check equipment units, parts such as contactor tips for gap, interlock and controlling fingers and tips for wipe and clearance springs for compression and tension, etc.
Qualifications:
Must possess at least one year of relevant mechanical and/or electro-mechanical experience with proficiency in reading schematics, prints and other electrical documents. Technical training a plus but not required.
•Training at an accredited technical school or equivalent. In lieu of technical school training, documented practical experience in a related field may be substituted
A valid driver's license and High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Wage Rates:
$32.99/hr for 1st class (increase to $36.66 after one year)
$21.06/hr for 2nd class (increase to $24.57 after one year)
