IS Operations Lead

Job Summary:

  • The IS Operations Lead is responsible for leading key Information Services (IS) operational processes including but not limited to IS process improvement, IS change control, IS quality improvement initiatives, IS operational enhancements, IS initiatives and projects. Working under limited supervision, independently performs reviews of interim detection and monitoring controls to ensure IS compliance with documented audit procedures, leads IS change management processing procedures and education within Corporate IS, leads identification and implementation of IS department process improvement and quality initiatives. Leads IS initiatives and projects as directed.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and directs process improvement initiatives with minimal oversight. Documents initiative status, highlighting progress, key dates, challenges, milestones and results. Communicates plan and overall progress.

  • Gathers data and analyzes key metrics essential to establish baselines used to monitor the benefits realized from process change.

  • Works within the business and with IS management to ensure IS audit outcomes meet expected requirements. Documents key IS audit processes that support the IS environment.

  • Leads IS change management processing procedures and change control meetings. Conducts reviews of changes for proper authorization and management approvals. Generates change reports and maintains metrics and statistics regarding failed, problem and emergency changes. Generates and distributes communications to impacted teams and stakeholders as necessary.

  • Leads initiatives with limited management oversight. Works within business to clarify IS project requirements, scope, and action plans.

  • Discovers opportunities for organizational process workflow, identifies efficiencies or enhancements within IS.

  • Provides leadership, inspiration, mentorship, and guidance to team members.

  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required).

  • 5+ years of experience in Information Technology internal audit, quality management or related job experience (Required).

Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated interpersonal/verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and resolution skills.

  • Knowledge and understanding of IT audit, change management procedures, system development life cycle, IS process and quality improvement, and/or project management practices.
