THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services is seeking a Staff Physician to join our committed medical team. As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for the medical care and treatment of individuals at Selinsgrove Center. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will provide medical and health care following current practice standards. Your responsibilities will include a broad range of professional and interdisciplinary tasks, such as conducting annual physical exams for assigned individuals and ordering laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic studies. You will manage chronic illnesses with a focus on restoring and maintaining health, make daily rounds to observe individuals' activities, and conduct daily dispensaries for those who are ill or need your care. You will also engage directly with individuals' families or guardians during hospital admissions, serious illnesses, and at the time of death. Additionally, you will prepare annual medical reports on individuals' conditions, as well as provide reports upon request from team members or external facilities for placement purposes. You will also be responsible for completing physicals for newly hired employees and others as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • This position requires o n-call hours for weekends and evenings, scheduled on a rotating basis.

  • Overtime may be required as needed.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of post-residency experience in the practice of medicine, including one year which involved a direct primary care caseload.

    Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active license to practice medicine in Pennsylvania issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine or Pennsylvania State Board of Osteopathic Medicine .

  • All employees must obtain an active registration to prescribe medication from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration as a condition of hire.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
