Franklin County Road Maintenance Tech I, II, III in PASCO, Washington

https://www.franklincountywa.gov/609/Employment-Opportunities{rel="nofollow"} SUMMARY The Road Maintenance Technician I, II & III positions participate in maintenance activities including construction, maintenance and repair of native, gravel and paved roads, and of bridges, structures, culverts and other drainage facilities. Performs a variety of heavy machinery and specialized equipment and performs maintenance and repair work to assure effective operation and maintenance of the County Road system.  Franklin County is divided into two maintenance Districts.  Road Maintenance Technicians are assigned to a district but may be requested to assist the other district at the discretion of the Road Maintenance Operations Management Team.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB ROAD MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I

  • Patrols Franklin County roads and assists employees in identifying hazardous areas and needed repairs. 
  • Performs a variety of road maintenance work including patching of chuck holes, cutting brush, burning weeds, painting, and flagging. 
  • Employees in this classification are responsible for driving and/or operating trucks and other construction and maintenance equipment, including special attachments and/or towing trailer-mounted equipment, satisfactorily.

* * ROAD MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN II

  • Patrols Franklin County roads and identifies hazardous areas and needed repairs.  Constructs, maintains, and repairs roads and related structures. 
  • Assists in training and overseeing the work of employees less experienced with maintenance and repair activities and equipment operation. 
  • Checks road signs for vandalism or damage from natural causes and reports to Traffic Control Technician. 
  • Employees in this classification satisfactorily operate all vehicles requiring a Class 'A' CDL.

      ROAD MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN III

  • Patrols Franklin County roads and identifies hazardous areas and needed repairs.  Constructs, maintains, and repairs roads and related structures in assigned district. 

  • Sets a standard of excellence leading by example in training and overseeing the work of employees less experienced with maintenance and repair activities and equipment operation. 
  • Checks road signs for vandalism or damage from natural causes and reports to Traffic Control Technician. 
  • Employees in this classification expertly operate all vehicles requiring a Class 'A' CDL. 

      ROAD MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I, II & III

  • Operates a variety of heavy and specialized vehicles or equipment to perform assigned duties related to maintenance and repair of native, gravel and paved roads, and of bridges, structures, culverts and other drainage facilities. 

  • Installs, paints, and repairs guard rails, signs, and sign posts as needed.
  • Performs a variety of minor repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment, and tools; assists mechanic in servicing and repairing vehicles. 
  • Pursues self-development and continuing personal development of skills and knowledge by attending ongoing educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
