Lockheed Martin NDI Test Engineer Sr (Level 3) in Palmdale, California

Supporting our legendary Skunk Works, your NDT knowledge will benefit you when developing new techniques that affect the full life cycle of NDT, including but not limited to, defect analysis, NDT method analysis, and inspection (when an inspection is desired, candidate must have a minimum Level II certification). As an experienced professional in non-destructive testing, you may be sought after for ingenious solutions to complex problems while also guiding and mentoring junior engineers to results.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare and advise on Technique Data Sheets (TDS), including evaluation of supplier/co-producer TDSs and procedures.

• Prepare and review engineering specifications and participate in the development of NDI training course material for NDI Level I and Level II Inspection personnel.

• Develop and evaluate new equipment technology Inspection Reference Parts (IRPs).

• Assist in writing "Basis of Estimates" (BOEs) and assist NDI Test Engineering key team members in creating a budget and capital plans for the group.

May be required to work 1st or 2nd shift and potential weekend shifts based on program needs. Applies advanced technical principles, techniques, theories and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and theories.

Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Palmdale, CA

This position is in Palmdale, CA Discover Palmdale.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience.

• Minimum of 4 years of non-destructive testing experience and documented previous NAS-410 Level III certification in at least two NDT/NDI methods (PT, MT, UT, RT, ET, ST or IRT).

• Level III certifications in at least two of the following methods: PT, MT, RT, UT, ET, ST or IRT.

• Experience in nondestructive inspection (NDI) of: casting, welding, composite structure, and bonded assemblies.

Desired Skills:

• Demonstrated program NDI lead.

• ASNT Level III certifications

• Prior aerospace NDT/NDI experience.

• Ability to interact with both contractor and customer representatives to develop a non-destructive inspection plan, schedule and cost estimate.

• Experience with Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP) requirements and collaboration with ASIP engineering specialists.

• Ability to develop program specific BOE's, capital plans, and manpower requirements.

• Experience with NDI sustainment activities in the field.

• Must have good customer relationship management skills.

• Must have demonstrated written and oral communication skills.

• State Radiation Safety License or equivalent.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and database utilization.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $82,200 - $157,500 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $94,500 - $178,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
