Job Title: Packaging Engineer (HYBRID)

Job Description

Support the design and development of packaging solutions that are sustainable, functional, and cost-effective

Assist in packaging testing ASTM, TAPPI and ISTA when necessary to assure form, fit and function in our distribution environments

Document packaging instructions and materials for the manufacturing/warehouse environment

Initiate new ideas of cost reductions of packaging materials ensuring compliance with environmental regulations

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, manufacturing, quality control and purchasing to ensure projects meet design and deadline requirements

Represent the Packaging Engineering Team with professionalism and integrity when communicating with the customer and cross functional teams

Support providing the customer (internal and external) with service products (documentation, prototypes, etc.) that exceed customer’s expectations

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging, Industrial Engineering or equivalent

0-2+ years of professional experience. Will look at entry level graduates

Demonstrated design skills and creative abilities utilizing CAD 3D solid modeling and supplier methods (Solid Works preferred)

Knowledge of packaging manufacturing processes and materials science

Experience with designs including but not limited to corrugate, plastics, wood, and cushioning materials

Knowledge of distribution environments, i.e.: truck, air

Familiar with the following standards: ASTM, TAPPI standards and ISTA

Must have demonstrated PC skills (Excel, Microsoft office)

Proven ability to work in cross-functional team environment

Good oral and written communication skills and solid documentation skills

Creative problem solving, proven problem-solving ability via design or process

Demonstrated ability to make commitments and produce results
