Description of Department:

The Office of Workforce Innovation and External Relations (OWIER) provides a designated point of entry into SUNY Oswego for industry, non-profit, public, private, and community partners to connect with institutional assets. Partnerships formed will generate economic and social benefits for the region that align with the priorities and vision of SUNY Oswego and contribute to the long-term, sustainable vitality of the university and the Central New York region.

The OWIER is structured around three pillars of focus: 1) Workforce Innovation and Upward Mobility, 2) Government and Legislative Affairs, and 3) Community Impact Programs and Resources.

The OWIER serves to: Contribute to the economic development of the region while advancing SUNY Oswego's Vision 4040 and its institutional priorities and goals; Assist in the identification and creation of external grant applications that align with institutional workforce innovation priorities; Help inform the creation of non-credit and credit-bearing programs based on current and future high-demand industry trends; Provide appropriate programming to support workforce innovation; and Work with SUNY Oswego's relevant vice presidents and deans to support student and faculty engagement with community partners.

The Research Foundation for SUNY on behalf of the Office of Workforce Innovation and External Relations at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a Training and Professional Development Facilitator.

While the position is located at SUNY Oswego, this is not a New York State position. This is a full-time, 12-month position.

Compensation: Salary Range (Annual): $58,000-$60,000

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, which requires at least three days of in-office presence per week.

Description of Responsibilities:

The Training and Professional Development Facilitator in the Office of Workforce Innovation and External Relations will facilitate and deliver professional development courses for a multifaceted, state-wide training program. They will design and develop training by combining creativity, research, and analysis of existing materials. Additionally, they will schedule curriculum, oversee enrollment, program logistics, and manage course evaluations to assess training effectiveness. Those who enjoy working with and leading people, researching personal and professional development topics, and presenting that information to an audience may be a good fit for this role.

The Training and Professional Development Facilitator job responsibilities will also include:

  • Facilitating training courses on core areas of management and leadership for professional development and career expansion.

  • Developing training materials by completing thorough research and assessing the professional development needs of state staff.

  • Organizing a training curriculum and materials that honors agency ethics and adhere to current best practices in education and training.

  • Preparing training locations to ensure that all tools, technical equipment, and resources needed to teach a course effectively are in place.

  • Overseeing the logistics of a supervisory and leadership training certification program, which includes reporting and other general administrative duties such as coordinating enrollment, scheduling class dates, times and locations, publicity, recruitment, and sending invitation information to trainees.

  • Providing support to training team members to achieve target goals while maintaining the highest standards.

  • Updating and managing shared digital files for the program

The Training and Professional Development Facilitator will report to the Associate Director and may have other duties assigned. Up to 25% travel throughout NYS, including overnight travel, required as well as occasional evening and weekend work.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree by time of appointment

  • 1-3 years of demonstrated success delivering in-person and virtual curriculum, presentations, and workshops.

  • 1-3 years of management/supervisory experience

  • Experience developing curricula, training, and/or presentation materials.

  • Familiarity with best practices in education, training, and professional development

  • Excellent communication, writing, and public speaking skills

  • Computer literacy, including competency in Microsoft Office products and virtual communication platforms.

  • Ability to travel throughout NYS, including overnight travel, and occasional evenings and weekends as required.

  • Possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, education, administration, or related field

  • 3+ years' experience effectively and successfully coordinating training, professional development, or related programming.

  • Working knowledge of Social Services setting & culture

  • The ability to promote ideas of leadership and community stewardship.

  • Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to problem-solve.

  • Motivated, self-starter, capable of working independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments.

  • Reliable transportation
