FIRST BANK OF THE LAKE Internal Auditor in Osage Beach, Missouri

Summary:This job is responsible for providing an independent audit assessment, which includes, but is not limited to, planning, fieldwork, summarization of accounting standards, and internal controls and safeguards for banking functions in conformance with board-approved policies, regulatory requirements.

Job Functions:

  • Complete annual risk analysis to prioritize the audit approach and schedule.
  • Perform audit fieldwork demonstrating a proficient level of understanding in the areas of accounting practices, operating procedures and systems, computer-assisted audit techniques, control issues and regulatory compliance, including the Financial Accounting Standards Board to successfully perform the audit engagement.
  • Comply with Board approved policies and departmental procedures to complete audit objectives departmental standards.
  • Develop applicable procedures to update the audit program.
  • Analyze and organize audit findings and observation summaries to prepare the audit report.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of the audit report, including rating recommendation, for the purpose of communicating the results to the appropriate Department Manager and Executive Manager.
  • Conduct exit meetings with the appropriate Department Manager and Executive Manager to communicate the audit results, including recommendations for improving policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate management's response to findings and observations and follow up on resolution of exceptions.
  • Assists external authorities in performing audits, examinations, or other special projects as needed.
  • Performs additional responsibilities and duties as assigned or requested by the Chief Risk Officer to facilitate corporate objectives.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university required with an emphasis in accounting, or a related field, preferred with at least 5-10 years of experience with a financial services institution.
  • Professional certification in accounting preferred.
  • Current working knowledge of banking laws and regulations preferred.
  • Must have an excellent working knowledge of acceptable audit routines.
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and understand financial reports and income statements.
  • Excellent computer skills including the functionality of all Microsoft Office programs. Must be able to interpret data utilizing computer screens and paper documents.
  • Must be self-directed, motivated, and willing to participate in suggested training as may be required to increase job knowledge and skill levels.
  • Must be accustomed to a flexible working schedule that allows for adjusted work routines, that may be required at times of audits, examinations, or other reviews.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex laws and regulations, extracting information applicable to the bank.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively interact with senior management and persuasiveness to solicit management and staff cooperation.
  • Unquestionable integrity, objectivity, and probing inquisitiveness.
  • Must complete all required training, including Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-money Laundering training, suitable to their position within the bank.
  • Must be able to be bonded.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
