Department: Med/Tele Oncology RNCertifications Required: BLS- # of Beds: 28- Nurse:Patient Ratios: Days: 1:4 // Nights: 1:5- Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Oncology and Trauma- Are RN's required to titrate drips?: Yes- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Chemotherapy occasionally. If you hang chemo you need to be chemo certified- but not required to work the floor- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:10 - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Tele techs will interpret, RNs should have some tele awareness- Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 0630-1900, 1830-0700 // - Weekend Requirements: Every other- Holiday Requirements: Negotiated- Floating Requirements: Yes, to same level of careScrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided?: Navy Blue- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2- 12 hour shifts on the unit- Additional Notes: Attributes that help make a nurse successful on this unit are not afraid to ask questions, being kind, and teamwork Department: Med/Tele Oncology RN
