CATCH Intelligence Lead Data Architect in Omaha, Nebraska
We are looking for a senior data warehouse architect to lead data warehouse assessments and strategies, which includes facilitating interview sessions with business and technical users, reviewing source system layouts and schemas, analyzing the business and technical requirements and creating a comprehensive strategy and roadmap to meet our client’s business needs. This individual must have proven experience as a data warehouse architect and will be focused on assessing our client’s requirements and designing the appropriate Data Warehouse architecture, applying industry best practices to support a full lifecycle Data Warehouse implementation. A key component of this person’s responsibility will also be ‘pre-sales’ support, including face to face meetings with CATCH customers, supporting the CATCH sales team with existing and prospective clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead activities around our Data Warehouse assessments which include leading facilitated interview sessions, reviewing customer’s current state architecture, and designing a future state BI/DW architecture to address the gaps and emerging business requirements discovered during the interview sessions. This role is also responsible for creating a Data Warehouse implementation strategy, roadmap and estimated budget to deliver the future state architecture. This role will also spend a great deal of time providing pre-sales support for our sales team with prospective clients.
Work with Business users (from executive-level CxOs to power users, business process and systems SMEs, information consumers and data scientists) to elicit their strategic business vision, goals and objectives, as well as understanding their pain points, obstacles, challenges, desired end-state capabilities, gathering requirements in different forms including: facilitated interview sessions, applying Agile requirements gathering techniques and reviewing existing SQL reports, programs and data structures to reverse engineer requirements as needed
Act as technical lead, interviewing the client’s technical staff to assess client’s current state environment and offer estimates and recommendations for improvement
Provide Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence subject matter expertise and leadership
Provide Pre-Sales support (calls, face to face meetings) with prospective customers
Provide hands-on sales demonstrations for the Data Management and BI Tools we support (reporting, data modeling, data governance, metadata management and ETL tools)
Transform Business requirements into functional Data Warehouse design requirements, including the data warehouse data model (logical and physical)
Aligning to CATCH best practices, standards and guidelines, ensure common application architectural framework across different subject areas and conformance with best practices
Consult with key individuals across multiple projects at the client regarding the usage and application of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing architectural standards
Develop conceptual and logical data models from business requirements
Develop ETL architectures and jobs with a variety of ETL tools
Evaluate, recommend and implement Business Intelligence Tools to meet technical and business requirements
Stay current with leading approaches, solutions, and tools in the Data Management and Analytics area.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Demonstrated breadth and depth across a number of IT disciplines, with an emphasis on Enterprise-level data architecture development, consolidation, standardization and integration of multiple legacy and ERP data stores, and experience in architecting successful implementations of Operational Data Stores, Master Data Management solutions, Enterprise Data Warehouses and Data Mart Structures
Current knowledge and experience in architecting for contemporary data warehousing solutions including data lakes, Big Data, and familiarity with associated design patterns for on-premise and cloud-based implementations, understanding their pros and cons and different licensing models of the major vendors (e.g. Microsoft and AWS)
Proven experience in a senior IT consultant role, working with executive leadership (business and IT) in formulating enterprise-wide IT and Business systems and data strategies
Experience with architecting and implementing data warehouse solutions across a wide variety of industries
Experience in leading efforts to implement Data Governance programs and disciplines, or having a deep understanding of data governance disciplines and principles
Strong communication skills and inter-personal skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders from across a wide variety of industries
Ability to sell your proposed architectural vision, roadmaps and recommendations to our clients, which in turn, generates revenue for CATCH through securing our team to carry forward the roadmaps through implementation of data warehousing solutions
Strong writing skills with the ability to translate raw interview notes into well thought out and well organized Assessment details and summaries which effectively tell and sell the story, as well as having the ability to author business-winning statement of work proposals as part of per-sales efforts
Evaluate, recommend and implement Business Intelligence Tools to meet technical and business requirements
Strong knowledge and hands on experience, developing data warehouse data models - applying industry best practices, including Inmon 3NF for EDWs and Kimball dimensional models for data mart designs
Excellent customer communication and pre-sales experience is required
Previous experience implementing Data Warehouse and Data Governance processes, procedures and methodologies is required
S trong, hands-on experience with designing ETL architectures and development is required
Strong facilitation skills and experience, which includes applying Agile development techniques in gathering requirements, developing effective user stories, creating a product backlog and release planning
Hands on experience with a Tier I BI tool is desired (experience with Business Objects is a strong plus)
Detail oriented with excellent organization and analytical skills
Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, project team members, supervisors, and employees from other departments.
Bachelor degree in computer science, information system, computer engineering or equivalent working experience is required
8+ years working experience in data warehousing or data architecture environments
5+ years’ experience as a lead Data Warehouse Architect
3+ years’ experience in implementing BI tools
