Miller Milling Pac/Fork Technician (Night Shift) in Oakland, California

Summary:

The PacFork Technician is responsible for operating the Packer (Premier Tech) and Forklift. Will be required to understand every job function in the packing department to keep department performing at an optimal performance level. Will be required to operate all equipment in the packing department to cover lunch/break periods and at times during short staffing periods. Employees will be accountable for production schedules. This job will report to the Production Manager and is subject to operating seven (7) days per week.

Pay Range: $28.77 after 90 days + shift differential

Primary Duties:

  • Work Safely by adhering to all Safety Rules and Job Safety Analysis applicable to the job.

  • Troubleshooting — determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

  • Equipment Maintenance — performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

  • Will be required to repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.

  • Responsible to repair and maintain the operating condition of packing machinery and equipment.

  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.

  • Correctly filling out paperwork for inventory and accurately enter data in the computer for tracking programs.

  • Blending flour products to the packer as needed and pack with quality and consistency.

  • Rotate through all pack line positions (Packer /Forklift). Coordinate Pack line to run through breaks/lunches.

  • Will program the date coder, and be responsible that the proper marking and code dates are being used.

  • Perform sanitation in PLW areas which include, but are not limited to feeding in and cleaning spills or chokes.

  • Will be required to operate a forklift.

  • Perform other duties as required when directed by supervision.

    Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated aptitude for the above requirements as judged by Miller Milling Management.

  • Demonstrate computer skills and navigate Cinch screens as necessary

  • Employee must be knowledgeable in the operation and repairs on the Blending, and Packing equipment including but not limited to the forklift, packer, scale, palletizer and metal detector.

  • Must qualify and maintain Forklift Drivers Certification.

  • Must belong or willing to join ILWU Local 6.

  • Must be able to operate computer and PLCs for systems operation and product shipment recording. Read, write, add, subtract, multiply and divide as well as comprehend written and verbal instructions.

  • Must have a proven ability to work in a team environment.
