Robert Half Human Resources (HR) Manager in North Tonawanda, New York

Description

Jenny Bour at Robert Half is partnering with a growing manufacturing client to immediately hire a Human Resources Manager. The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing personnel and daily operations of the human resources department. If you thrive in a dynamic work environment that requires the ability to balance multiple responsibilities, this may be the role for you. This is permanent opportunity in the North Tonawanda area.

Major responsibilities:

  • Put in place management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures

  • Manage the organization's human resources department by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices

  • Head up human resource staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees

  • Educate employees such that they follow all policies and procedures

  • Retain historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current records

  • Lead all HR activities, communications, reports, requests and documents created and received by the team

  • Take part in interdepartmental meetings with other managers

  • Handle projects with global HR partners

  • Establish recruitment plans, interview schedules and evaluation standards in accordance with HR methodologies and labor laws

  • Research compensation standards set by industry and governing bodies in order to create salary structures and administer employee benefits

  • Be familiar with and implement applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conduct investigations, maintain records, and represent the organization at hearings

  • Administer exit interviews and procedures

  • Evaluate reports provided by the HR team, team leaders and operations managers to determine employee performance and training needs

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or relevant field or equivalent experience

  • PHR/SPHR or other relevant certifications are preferred

  • 7+ years of HR experience, preferred to be in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to view issues objectively

  • Organized in handling confidential business matters and information with discretion

  • An understanding of the key principles of employment law and EEOC regulations

  • Extensive knowledge of HR policies, benefits administration, compensation and wage structure

  • Adept to problem-solving and conflict resolution

  • Familiarity with HR software and working knowledge of MS Office
