Position Overview

As a Fleet Maintenance Tractor Technician, A Level, you will be responsible for performing core elements of fleet maintenance primarily with Tractor assets, but will include exposure to other fleet assets within the operations. A fleet maintenance tractor technician will perform and trouble shoot preventative maintenance and repairs, will effectively complete work orders, and support shop projects to optimize asset up-time and productivity all while working safely and embodying the safety culture and atmosphere.

Job Description

Pay $35 - $38 Hourly

Shift: 2nd shift and 3rd shift available

As a Diesel Technician, A level with C&S Whole Sale Grocers, you'll perform but not limited to, basic to mid-range diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and most repairs and replacements.

• Engine, Transmission, Def system, rear end, ABS system, and electrical systems a MUST

• A/C diagnoses and repair.

• Volvo I-shift automated manual transmissions.

• ASE Diesel Certification an Asset.

• Performing preventative maintenance tasks and inspections on company vehicles and equipment.

• Diagnose and repair equipment using software, Transman, Techtool, Impact, Davie, Detroit, Bendix, Cummins, and C3 yard management.

• Other repairs would include but not limited to are, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, cooling systems, exhaust, steering, alignment, and suspension.

• Must also be familiar with J1939 and J1708 Data link diagnoses.

• Accurately recording time, parts, and inspection checklists.

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.

• Safely operating gauges, forklifts, shunt trucks, torches, grinders, and various hand and power tools.

• With oversight, conduct asset inspection by item level task. Complete small repairs, post PM inspection. Successful inspection post PM completion for completeness and within parameters. Perform FHWA successfully (with shadow)

• Follow ongoing cycle of reading, classroom environment, observe expert executing repair and then demonstrate skill and proficiency for each critical learning by system

• Work closely with tenured technician to learn technical aspect of the job. Read, study and test modules or chapters of technical materials. Successfully certify at test level and demonstrate technical competency. Complete ongoing Manufacturer training/certification

Environment

• Warehouse: Freezer (-20F to 0F)

• Warehouse: Perishable Warehouse (28F to 60F)

• Warehouse: Grocery Warehouse (50F to 90F)

Skills

• CDL Preferred.

• Base understanding of mechanical principles and aptitude to complete repairs on Heavy Duty equipment with moderate instruction.

• Vehicle maintenance systems, commercial truck components, driver D.O.T. regulations.

• Transman familiarity and VMRS understanding

• VOLVO EXP A MUST!

• Physical abilities: Heavy lifting involved, carrying, pushing, pulling, etc. 8 hours of contiguous standing, squatting and twisting at times. Working with computers some of the day

Years Of Experience

• 5-7 Mechanical exposure and understanding of principles of Internal Combustion Engines and previous work experience is strongly recommended.
